I understand that there was damage from Helene. But it's nearly a year later, and it doesn't seem like anything is being done. I'm paying a premium for storage that is climate controlled and secured, but it is neither climate controlled or secure. But the worst part is the absolute lack of communication - we haven't received any information about what the plans are, what the timing is, or when to expect changes. I've tried calling to get information, have sent emails, and there's no response. I honestly can't wait to get out of this space. ... Read more

The Go Store It, Riverside Drive is awful! They clearly do not care about their tenants. After Hurricane Helene, we could not access the building for over a month (which was understandable), BUT very little communication and no break on the rent. I had to repeatedly call and email to find out if my things even survived the flooding. Now, it is almost 3 months later, the building still has no power which means no heat, so no climate control, no elevator, and no light in the units…yet NO reduction in rent for any of this time. I was basically told today, if I’m not happy about it, I can move. Well that is not helpful and easier said than done with the current conditions! I’ve been unhappy with this place for quite awhile because they get you in and then constantly raise your rent. This just tops it off. I’ve used other storage places over the years but this place is definitely the worst! UPDATE: Go Store It responded to my post saying they are giving “rent relief in various forms”..whatever various forms means…that is completely untrue! I have received NO rent relief despite my requests…they have charged me full rent for three months now with NO climate control, NO elevator, and for a month, I could not even go in the building. This is the worst storage place I have ever used! ... Read more

I would not recommend renting a storage unit at this facility, or other buildings owned by Go Store It. The owners repeatedly raised rental rates once you have moved in “to match market pricing” but continue to advertise lower rates. We were paying almost 50% more a year after moving items into the unit than the rate we started with. However, my biggest concern is with the company’s handling of the damage done to the building by Hurricane Helene. The ground floor units were underwater, and the facility is still without electricity, with no estimated repair date being communicated. This means there is no climate control, or elevator access to upper floors, as of December 20, 2024. Despite this, the company is still continuing to charge full rent to all tenants. The greed is astonishing. I was able to get a retroactive reduction, after literal hours spent on the phone with multiple representatives, but continue to receive full-price invoices after. Despite the uncertainty, the company has not sent any written communication on the status of the building since October 2024. To address the comments made on other similar reviews, where GSI states they apologize for this and intend to take these comments seriously - know that we reached out multiple times with feedback and requesting updates and communication. Not one of my emails was responded to, and multiple representatives either told us conflicting/wrong information, or us they had no information to share. None of them responded to my request for additional status updates. The company was given ample opportunity to respond and improve since this occurred in September. I cannot recommend supporting this company, or expecting any level of service from their team. Finally, I would be weary of storing items in this building in the future after the amount of damage and mold present. Edit 1/7/2025 In response to the business comment - this is a great example of incorrect information being shared by the company. The are in fact NOT providing moving assistance. I spent 5 days there from 9-5, and this is simply not a true statement. I moved every single one of my items in a 10x15 unit without assistance, down two flights of stairs. They may have provided assistance for a few days in November when the building was still being cleared out from the damage, but when I reached out (twice) to get more information about how to utilize this help I had heard about I did not receive any response from the company, so I cannot confirm that this was ever even provided. ... 1. This location IS IN A FLOOD PLAIN - insurance WILL NOT pay for flood or any weather damage including mold damage. 2. Go store will tell you in writing that they will do something and then they will not. They do not care that they lied to you. 3. According to their contract they don't actually have to provide temperature or humidity control or airflow in your "climate-controlled" unit. On October 29th they sent an email saying "We are pleased to inform you that property services have been restored." While there has not been and is still NO electricity, temperature, or humidity control since the hurricane (I am writing this on December 12th). 4. This business has the worst communication I have ever experienced in my life. None of the phone operators know anything for sure, and my emails requesting basic communication were never replied to. 5. They will increase your rent regularly. Mine went up 42% after 3 months and I was told that's their standard business practice. You can see this reflected in other reviews. I am not a Karen. This is the only 1-star review I have ever written. Save yourself the agonizing headache of this greedy corporation and avoid any go store it at all costs. Warn your friends and family. It's really that bad. Reply to go store it's reply: "Following the hurricane, we offered a three-month credit to provide additional time to relocate your belongings, despite your unit being located on an unaffected floor..." I did NOT receive 3 months of credit. I did receive 2 months of credit while I had no access to my things but had to spend hours on the phone advocating for this. When I arranged to move my large furniture down the stairs on the day you said, in writing, there would be help moving items... there was NO help available. I asked for some form of compensation for my trouble around your untruth and was told sorry and refused a 3rd month of credit because "you haven't paid us anything since September". Also, while my floor wasn't completely flooded the entire building was affected - my fabric items have mold on them and everything had to be carried down the stairs to be moved out. I did my last load wearing a headlamp because the parking lot security guard told me he didn't know I was in the building so he could turn the generator that runs the lights on. ... Read more

since September 27, when the building flooded. Gostore it has denied access to tenants and will not provide updates other than we will provide an update later. if you have stuff stored here it is ruined. the entire building will be full of mold, even though it is guaranteed climate controlled. Dont worry though, they are still charging rent. These are the actions of a criminal organization. update:12-13-24 there still is no power, still charging full rent and gostoreit still sux. there is no accommodation made for tenants, no climate control, no elevator, just a bunch of lies. I will never Rent from a private equity owned establishment, pure greed is all they have to offer good luck with these criminals. ... Read more

This storage was affected by hurricane Helene, the building and surrounding areas were completely flooded for days. Even though I lost a lot of my belongings in the flood, I am very happy with the way gostore it handled the whole situation. They communicated with me throughout the entire process, and they had a huge crew of people on site to help me clean out my unit and salvage what I could. They refunded my rent and let me move what items I could save into another unit on the third floor, and I got a free month for that unit too. Very grateful for them ?? ... Read more

I went with Go Store It for fair pricing, transparency, and convenience. After three full months of patronage, I was sent an e-mail notice that stated my monthly rent would increase by 108%. Yes, you read that correctly— my rent is going up from $106 to $220 after THREE months of use come August. I rent a 10x7 unit (small). Honestly, I feel scammed and disappointed. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Go Store It - 824 Riverside Drive include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Parking, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
