Read some helpful reviews of Public Storage at 99 South Van Ness Avenue, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

Do not expect to helpful staff. Do not expect to use the app to unlock doors or elevators within building, there’s no cell phone service or WiFi. I got stuck in the elevator and the response from staff was yelling at me for being there after closing. I profusely apologized and tried to explain that the elevator malfunctioned and I had to press the emergency help button to get out. Her response was, “I don’t care, I got off 4 mins ago and you need to get out of here.” ... Read more

Tee is amazing, incredible customer service & knows her stuff! She also took the time to educate me on everything that would help me with a storage unit that I had to check in on and clear out! One downside, the elevators don’t work sometimes. ... Read more

I find the employees always very pleasant. On my recent visit there were no carts in the office, and yet there were only a couple cars in the parking lot so I thought well they’re not that busy, where are the carts? The Employee followed me back to the parking lot and said he would g investigate Warning . He found carts and brought one to me. I thought that was exceptionally nice of him to do so. ... Read more

Forgot the name of the girl who helped me (glasses and curly hair, very friendly and smart) but she’s a gem! I went to another location to attempt to resolve a time sensitive billing issue after they told me over the phone I had to go in person to resolve it, and the person there was unable to resolve it and was generally unhelpful. So we decided to try to go by one more location before closing time to see if we could resolve it and thankfully we went to this one and got to work with this super helpful gal! Friendly, informative, and patient with me being on the phone with customer service (so rude of me tbh but I was trying to juggle things in a panic), AND solved the issue within 5 mins! Super thankful she was at the desk when I needed assistance! ... Read more

The elevator has been down for over a month. They just hike up the cost of the unit at will - mine went up almost $70 and I was only in the unit for 4 months before that. If you try to call to talk to someone for help (not for sales - those answer right away) it takes 20-30 minutes to get someone on the phone. I will say the in office staff is friendly and helpful - but the business as a whole is just looking to gouge you. Save your money and go elsewhere. The hours here are also terrible compared to others. ... Read more

The elevator has been down for almost 3 weeks! It’s a good thing the managers are so helpful with insight on alternate access routes to ease the inconvenience of having to walk further and go through even more hallways just to get to my locker. Mau is so helpful and makes this inconvenient problem more bearable. Thank you. ... Read more

At first I was a little worried about storing my furniture in this area and also I was concerned that I wouldn’t have a place to park the Uhaul truck. This place turned out to be very clean, very safe and I parked right next to my storage building after I entered through the gate. This is a great storage option if you want your stuff near the City. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Public Storage - 99 South Van Ness Avenue include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 20 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 99 South Van Ness Avenue start from $116 and can go up to $1,249 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
