Old tower

This is a great spot to live, if you are just one person and dont mind the street life noise. Not great if you need more space. Also theres only one elevator. Good luck on parking.

Living in Olive Tower

I lived in Olive Tower for over 5 years now. The first couple of years were nice since I met some good people and the rent was very affordable based on my income, but when the pandemic came, the quality of management and oversight of the building decreased. - Laundry units breaking - Some people have human feces in the laundry units. - Constant unavailability from management - Long wait times for maintenance These are just some examples based on what I've experienced within the past couple of years. Things have gotten a little bit better lately though. Overall, the location is okay, and my neighbors aren't too disruptive. I'd recommend Bellwether Housing to anyone wanting to live in downtown Seattle. Olive Tower could be a good affordable short-term apartment, but I wouldn't recommend it long-term in my opinion.

Do Better

I have lived in the OT for several years. I have been very displeased that Bellwether refuses to give residents spare keys to their units. I am also dissatisfied that Bellwether doesn't time "maintenance duties" with season priorities. For example, this week we are all being asked to keep our windows closed for a painting project. IT IS THE MIDDLE OF A HEATWAVE. THIS IS ABSURD. This type of project should take place in May or September. It also is not ok to tell people to remove A/C units permanently. Bellwether can do better to make these spaces more comfortable. This property is constantly having issues with the washers and dryers. It is also absurd how few washers and dryers there are for 86 units. This property should invest a dedicated area for residents to store bicycles. All of these units are way too small for bike storage. Why can't we get bike racks? I saw one unit attempt to do so and then it appears management told them no. I also have an issue that management took away our local community "Buy Nothing" group by telling residents that can't leave things in the lobby. This building had some amazing book exchanges go on during the pandemic. Some of these issues are not building community in our building but rather destroying community.
