Lovely place to live for singles and small families
We moved in last June and have enjoyed living here. The thick walls and high ceilings make the units quiet and comfortable, especially in hotter months. I love the ample storage and character of this 100+-year-old building. Tony, the maintenance manager, is a wizard and responds quickly. It was awkward when we first moved in because we were given no information about receiving mail or offered a guided tour or anything, it was very hands-off with us. But we learned the ropes quickly and everything has been squared away. I love that we can walk to a Chihuahuas game or the art museum or a myriad of other things in the area. There are bus stops nearby. Parking can be sketchy because it's public street parking with a handful of spaces, but we've never had to park away from the block we're on. My only actual complaints aren't the apartment management's fault at all: the trash pickup keeps leaving the dumpster in the street or in a parking space (though there is a cleared alcove off the sidewalk where it used to sit), and the laundry company hasn't fixed one of their washers. But even then we have not had a problem doing our laundry when we want. The only things I would change in my unit would be a faucet for the tub (it's filled by the shower, which is slow and messy), remove the unused AC grating that takes up much of the narrow hallway (surprised this wasn't done during renovation), and maybe replace two of the three window AC units that don't have a heat setting with energy efficient ones that do. If I were pressed. These are all things that are easy to live with and the good far outweighs the bad. With the few issues that we've had, it is easy to contact building management and they are pleasant and responsive. Overall, we have been very happy living here and are looking forward to another year.
