For starters THEY HAVE BUGS!!!! The manger is extremely rude and unprofessional he goes by the name gorge ! The prices were raised without them even giving some of the customers a notice ! I received no notice to my house he said he sent it and it supposedly got sent back but if that’s the case why didn’t he call my cellphone or tell me when I went in person to pay my last bill ? He’s a thief pocketing the money clearly . ... Read more

Cheap storage units but I've had no issues. The insurance coverage gives me peace of mind. It's not the nicest units but it does what it needs to do for the price. Very satisfied, all the workers were very patient and the process was very easy. Took on the rental special saved a lot compared to other units. Would recommend if you want an affordable storage unit and don't care about the aesthetics. ... Read more

I forget the aggregator I used, but they mislisted their prices on the aggregator, leading them to appear to be the cheaper than they are. By the time I got there I wasn't about to research a different place and unload my stuff into another unit, so I wound up paying double what I had been told over the phone by the agent of the aggregator that I would be paying. I half suspect this place mislisted their prices intentionally, and, regardless, it's their bad. ... Read more

Work customers service from any storage ive dealt with. Warning: they do not take anything other than cash. Prices are cheapest in the area but that is because the storage lockers aren't the safest either. They are wooden doors with exposed hinges making it easy for dishonest people to remove hinge pins and brake in. The locking mechanism are bolted and screws making it easy to unscrew and remove as well. Good luck if you store here. ... Read more

I have used this storage facility several times over the years. The reason I keep going back is because of the PRICE. They are MUCH cheaper than the others. Now, having said that, this is not a great section of Santa Ana, so you need to know that; but the storage facility is secure, does the job, and the prices are SO REASONABLE that you don't feel like you're being ROBBED when it's time to pay. They have several sizes to choose from. The smallest size (don't remember what it is) was about $40 a month, (this was a few years ago), next size $55, 70, I think the largest size was about $80 a month. Compare that to the others. It can't be beat ANYWHERE in Orange County! ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Better Self Storage - 2340 West 1st Street include the following amenities: Indoor, 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 50 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Better Self Storage - 2340 West 1st Street start from $20 and can go up to $38 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
