Read some helpful reviews of U-Stor-It at 1575 Howard Avenue, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

I was renting a unit for 3 yrs service was ok, but hours were so inconvenient only open 9 to 5. Closed on holidays and sundays. After the 2nd year they started switching from one management company to another to the point where it was impossible to make a payment. Every other month they would change phone numbers. Last month my storage unit got broken into a long with other units that were picked randomly, most everything was stolen and i ended up just taking what was left and moving to another storage place. I do not recommend this place as there is no security whatsoever and office is always closed. ... Read more

Worse place ever. Get away from the San ysidro location. Rats infection, homeless living on site, everything is extremely dirty, no restroom access, this place is open 24/7 the lock is only for looks. I had brought my concerns many times to the management a light color skin who claims is the manager from the Otay and also this location. She said they are not going to do anything about it and I can leave if I want to because that location is not something they are concerned about since they are going to demolished sometime soon meanwhile they charge rent every month and we just got a notification of $20 dllrs increase. I was at this location since 2020. I went through multiple owners since but by far the worse ownership is this. No one works there they only come to collect money couple of days at the beginning of the month. Everyone is leaving this location but again according to the manager who cares if we leave I signed a contract and I was ok with the current location etc I even told her what if I get attack my a homeless since there was one living on top of my unit she said well we won't cover that. Again this is the worst place ever and no one cares about nothing. Right now I left on the month of December 2024 because 3 homeless cars moved in inside and again they didn't do anything about it and I was concerned about my well being. ... Read more

The storage is nice, with a mission style design and it has many size units. The only thing that would make me think about renting here is the hours, but it's great if you don't need it on Sundays. Marvin, missing your presence here, friend. ... Read more

This is an active business with many storage units of several different sizes available by the month. It's securely locked at night. The office is open daily. It's also an interesting place as the owner has collected cacti and succulents for many years and has many mature species. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at U-Stor-It - 1575 Howard Avenue include the following amenities: Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Truck Rentals, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate and Unstaffed Location. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
