Vermin One star goes to the employee who is always on-site. He consistently provides excellent service and truly deserves five stars on his own. Unfortunately, my experience with the company as a whole tells a different story. When I first rented my unit, the facility was owned by Central Storage, and I enjoyed working with them. Since Public Storage has taken over, however, I’ve experienced issues that the company refuses to take accountability for. I discovered rats in my storage unit after noticing that a sealed package of water wipes had been chewed through. These were not food items (which are prohibited), but rather household supplies. I contacted Public Storage’s corporate office, and the only compensation offered was a one-time courtesy credit of $25. I also reached out to my renter’s insurance company, Lemonade, but they do not cover vermin or insect damage. Orange Door Insurance, Public Storage’s primary provider, does cover such claims. Only up to $250, with a $100 deductible. This means that, at best, I would receive $150 to cover any losses. As a “solution,” I was handed packets of rat poison to place around the unit (which the rats have completely ignored) and told I could move to another unit on the property. I would be responsible for the moving costs and a rent increase, even for the same unit size. While I value supporting small, independent companies, I cannot recommend Public Storage based on my experience. Accountability and effective solutions should be standard, especially when customers entrust a company with their personal belongings. 9/30/25 2 days after this posting my rent for storage increased $50. Retaliation. For a place that has rats and mice?!?! Not worth it. ... Read more

They nickel and dime you all day. $20 to speak to a human no one in the office to talk to free. Cut my 3 locks off at 7 days put their locks on my unit. Changed the access hours from 7 to 7 to 6 to 6. Public Storage just sucks all around. ... Read more

Let's start with the units themselves- maintained with indoor lighting, my unit is perfect for accommodating items up to 8 x 10. The locks utilized by this facility are cut-proof, and with a little oiling, lock holders remain secure. This provided the peace of mind I needed. The facility's location is another highlight, nestled alongside My City Forest. This non-profit organization and their volunteers plant trees and shrubbery for the community in Santa Clara County. It’s also near a field that separates the freeway and the airport, the field most likely has field mice, nothing that the management doesn’t try and control the best they can. Overall, if you are looking for an economical and safe storage facility that prioritizes security and environmental responsibility, this is the place to choose. I highly recommend it and cannot wait to see how it meets your needs. #LETSGONINERS!!! ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Public Storage - 1020 Spring Street include the following amenities: Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, First Floor Access, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 36 to 420 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 1020 Spring Street start from $63 and can go up to $554 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
