What customers are saying

4.4/5 - 232 Reviews

Read some helpful reviews of SecurCare Self Storage at 550 West 40th Street, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

The facility is clean and orderly, no issues with pests and it feels safe for the most part. My 3 star rating has to do with customer care. A great deal of people needing storage are usually not in a good place. Many are facing eviction, an urgent need to move, a death or illness in the family where they are having to clean out a property. If the property manager or call center agents cannot manage empathy, they should at least make an effort to afford the minimums of customer service 101. Do not continue to repeat your policies to an unhappy customer, especially when the problem or issue causing their dissatisfaction is your fault. TIP #1: Reservations of a specific unit mean nothing. Dont count on them to hold the unit, no matter how many times you confirm or they promise. TIp#2: If the exact size of the unit is important to you, measure it yourself. Their 10 feet of measurement is actually 9 feet. TIP#3: Some property managers have probably been at it too long. Nice one day, nasty the next. TIP#4: They only value you at the time of purchase. Their business model is designed to burden existing customers. In other words, your contracted monthly rate will keep going up. Good Luck! ... Read more

"I'm extremely disappointed with SecurCare Self Storage. Not only were my personal items stolen from their facility, but the company's response was appalling. When I reported the incident to the front desk associate, I was met with rudeness and condescension. Instead of taking my concerns seriously, I was asked not to share my experience with other customers and was brushed off with a suggestion to go through my insurance. It's unacceptable that a company entrusted with storing valuable belongings would prioritize protecting their reputation over addressing customer concerns. Needless to say, I would not recommend to anyone. ... Read more

The ease, simplicity and coherence of the whole process is quite evolutionary. The entire web experience, with finding the right unit, choosing it, viewing and obtaining it, down to pulling in to sign and claim it. ?? In all honesty I almost didn't want to believe it... too seamless. The experience was easier then a "fast food" mission. I'd highly, betteryet, ONLY recommend, and refer anyone here. The unit grounds are nothing short of emaculant at all times. Aaahhhh, once you arrive, a lovely site! Now, Im refering to the "Face" representing this business; No contradictions. The property manager, simply beautiful, present in her position, such an additional delight. I appreciate the integrity held, truthfully presented, and graciously inexpensive... a valued customer indeed!! Looking forward to a longterm, worthy commitment!! I can securely say: Anyone considering, would absolutely stand in agreement. ?? ... Read more

Management is friendly I've had my storage unit since December and never entered it for at least 4 to 5 months I come back and I paid in advance and I need to spend at least a week there to go through some things and was told that I could only spend an hour. I completely understand they're concerned about people hanging out but I'm not like those people and I really do need to go through my things for my personal reasons. But the place is very clean and there is no riff Raff most the time. Outside of not being able to be there over an hour I do recommend the storage facility for many other reasons ... Read more

My rent went up $29 for what? Your service hasn't changed. And sending me an email telling me my rent is increasing is terrible. I never even received a letter in the mail. I didn't get to choose your company it was forced upon me. If I could get out of it I would. ... Read more

Great customer service everytime I go in to make payments. Very accommodating during the power outtage they experienced in October. The lady behind the desk is very professional and polite never had a bad experience. I've been there about 6mo. They're way better and professional than cube smart down the street from their facility. I wouldn't recommend cube smart to my worst enemy ??. ... Read more

First of all this place rocks. I was sick for the last two months and my cc was stolen and fraud was don't to my account. Not to worry though secure storage worked with me in a positive , friendly manner. Wow thank you secure a1 storage. We all fall into hard times and sometimes it's hard to find such a special business or organization that really cares. The manager team is also top notch. If u need a storage and want to be treated like family then don't hesitate in joining the secure Storage family. You won't be disappointed ! ... Read more

No one here. Tried to move in, manager not there during office hours. Needing to move, I signed my lease on a Sunday. The website says it is all automated and you can move in right away using your gate code. Code doesn't work. I drove over half an hour to get here. I come back on Monday at 11:30am. No one is at the office. A sign says they are out. My code still doesn't work. I called customer service 5 times and no one can figure out what is wrong but the code doesn't work. Many other customers enter and exit no problem. I can see my unit from the gate and there is a large blue puck style lock on it so even if I can get in my unit is locked. I've been on the phone with customer service for over half an hour at this point with no solution. Complete waste of time and money. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at SecurCare Self Storage - 550 West 40th Street include the following amenities: Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 50 to 290 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by SecurCare Self Storage - 550 West 40th Street start from $73 and can go up to $447 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
