I could not have beenhapier with the service I received. Kelly, my rep was so helpful and accommodating when she carefully listened to my needs . I do not recommend this storage unit what so ever. I myself had a unit here years ago, and always had trouble one way or another - I should've known better and moved my senior mothers unit out of there when I did - but I didn't. We just went to close out her unit recently; and we were warned they had a rodent infestation... well to our surprise there was rat feces, urine and fur everywhere in her unit, I mean tons, then we found a dead rat INSIDE as well. So we had to discard of everything in the unit. Although the woman in the office was very kind so this review isn't a reflection of her - but unfortunately we were told that they had known for quite some time and that they didn't ever send out notices. The management clearly only cares about making money - and it's honestly horrible. My poor mother now has to start all over and it breaks my heart for her. And only an apology was offered....like that can help her get back her things or the hundreds if not thousands she paid to rent the unit. DO NOT WASTE YOUR $$$. not to mention there are obviously people living in many of the units and they charge too much in my opinion. I don't want this to happen to anyone else so I am speaking up on her behalf because this is horrible. ... Read more

I do not understand the logic of storage facilities, this included. I moved from Extra space because they kept increasing the rates. I told this place that as long as the rates stay modest, I’ll stay. Nope; they quickly started raising rates to the point of not making sense to stay. As I was making the decision to move, the place was swarmed with rats (and mice?). Hundreds of dollars of damage to my personal property were discovered upon my move out. Absolutely furious that I was not even notified about this invasion, especially as my rates had seen about a 25% increase in two years. (Imagine your rent or mortgage going up at the same rate.) ... My cousin and I went to his storage unit to retrieve the Xmas tree so we could have a get together, decorate and have a good time. When we got there we couldn't get through the gate. Code wouldn't work. Said "see manager ". When my cousin went inside, he talked to a lady named pat (lower case intended)who was very rude and told him the rent hadn't been paid. We called my uncle and found out the check had been mailed. So with the holidays and such, the mail is probably slow and the storage place hadn't received payment. My uncle has been renting a storage unit with storage direct for ten years nonstop without a late payment. We explained that we only wanted to get the Xmas tree so we could proceed with our get together. But pat sat there like a piece of granite, stone faced and said no I can't let you in. I know there are rules in place for a reason. Believe me I get that, but there is also times to make exceptions, to show kindness. We only wanted the tree and this whole review would be different. We would be grateful, thankful, and happy. Instead pat gave me a new perspective on humanity. It's been a long time since I met someone so cold. As long as pat works at storage direct I will never do any business with this company and will tell as many people as possible what terrible people they employ and Dont rent from them!!! ... Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Storage Direct - 998 Washington Blvd include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Truck Rentals, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Keyless Unit Access, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
