Don't fall for those "first month's rent is $1" deals, thinking you'll be out in a month or two. You won't be, and they know it. They raise the rent regularly, maybe every 6 months. Evert business tries to make a profit, but this is a greedy business model that feeds on your procrastination. At ~15 years, this 5×5 space was $275/month--this after several requests over the years to lower the rent. When I indicated "move out" in the app, I was offered a rent of $132/mo (!). If you must use Public Storage, threaten to move out *every* time they raise the rent. You'll save a ton of money. ... Read more

I had some unique requirements that might have prevented me from being able to use Public Storage, but Alma showed understanding, patience, and a willingness to work through extra steps to make sure my storage needs were taken care of. Much appreciated! Update: Unfortunately, they kept raising prices, presumably thinking we were locked in, but we were able to cover the moving costs with the savings at another storage company. Moving from five stars to four. Still appreciate Alma. ... Read more

I had two appointments set up to see the unit and two times no one showed up. I even got verbal confirmations. The online payment system wasn’t working also. A few days after we first rented our unit I received a voice mail our unit was broken into and I called right back but it took some several hours for someone to let me know they had the wrong unit. I probably would of went somewhere else but my boss wanted to go to that location. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Public Storage - 150 North Halstead Street include the following amenities: Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Gate, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, First Floor Access and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 200 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 150 North Halstead Street start from $150 and can go up to $545 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
