-1.....×1000...Awful place and owner. Charged me 21 times in one month and refused to correct the billing issues. Wrongful late charges that i can prove were on time. Random false charges with no explanation. Held my belongings hostage for close to a year and the tried to sue me. She didn't even show up for court.. She basically robbed me of very sentimental items that I can never get back. I'm not done with this one yet. I won't let it go. It's so wrong to be treated this way as a consumer. Anybody want to submit any comments or evidence that she did this to you or someone you know as well -contact me!!! ... Read more

UPDATE: Per Cindy she had to hang up to talk with Madera county about COVID-19, will send a receipt of cancellation next week when back in the office and that I would not be charged for August. Fingers crossed there is follow-through. My review rating will not change either way. Emptied my storage unit the first week of July, left a voicemail with Cindy requesting confirmation of cancellation. Emailed with the same request 17th of July and finally reached her the 22nd. After telling her these things she yelled (yes) that there are several people waiting for space and that they require two weeks notice. I paid for July on time and expected to receive cancellation by now to avoid fees for August. I told her that I didn’t want any tension, just wanted confirmation that my account is cancelled. She 1) implied I was lying about requesting a cancellation in early July and yelled about calls going strait to her personal voicemail 2) hung up on me 3) Is refusing to be in contact with me and I have no idea what to do. Please confirm my cancellation!!!!!!! ... Read more

Owner is a greedy person. She takes advantage of people and always claims that you owe more then you do. Hates to provide receipts. Loves to take past due storages and keep them for herself or supposedly auctions them off. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Oakhurst Self Storage - 40820 Winding Way include the following amenities: Drive-Up Access, Security Camera, Gate, Unstaffed Location and Parking. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
