This 4star review is about the customer service and not the facility itself. Bobby is the only reason why. I was very disappointed with the way this storage facility operates: no light in the unit, rate increases and lacking maintenance of critical infrastructure (elevator). However, the customer service provided by Bobby of above and beyond. She deserves a lot of credit, as well as a pay raise (DO YOU HEAR ME PIBLIC STORAGE?! Pay this woman her worth!!!!), for her patience, communication and efforts with customers. I really appreciate her honesty and follow through with what she says in actions. Thank you, Bobby, and I hope you will be acknowledged by your employer for your service! ... Read more

I want to say a huge thank you to Josephine, since I moved to Novato public storage, she has always helped customers solve problems. She always listens carefully and treats requests with understanding! Not many people nowadays have such qualities as the ability to listen and help, even if this is part of the duties of a clerk. There are times when clients are impatient, they want it faster and faster, she will find a way to calm the client down and help. Thank you for the fact that there are still people who do not take their responsibilities formally. Thanks Josephine! You are a truly good person and a great clerk for Public Storage! ... Read more

This is my first time ever using a storage facility and I’ve had a few snafus with my unplanned urgent move. Life has been really hectic with all these curveballs, I can honestly say that Bobbie is an angel! her bedside manner was impeccable. I had to call so many times and she never made me feel like I was bothering her and honestly when i walked in to sign my paperwork I felt as if an old friend was welcoming in. Her work ethics are spot on and her character is few and far between. We need more like Bobbie who truly enjoy helping others find safety and security with their items. ... Read more

I currently rent at another Public Storage site. They are the worst! I have sent Bill Pay checks to them and they deny ever having received them. Even though, one time I was on the phone with their office person and she admitted it was sitting on her desk. Another time they posted my check to another person's account and locked my unit. So, my remedy was to find another property to pay my monthly rent in person. I hit the jackpot and found Bobbie! She is absolutely wonderful! In well over three years my payments post before they are due, there is no more mix up which account my payment is applied to and I don't receive messages that my account is past due, (which it has never been, except by mistake). Bobbie is very personable, thoughtful, kind, reliable and she knows her job. When I have time, we chat for a few minutes when I see her. She is always so positive and upbeat. I dread the days she has off because I can never be sure someone will be in the office. Bobbie, Public Storage was the winner the day they hired you! ... Read more

I have been working with Mill Valley Public Storage for almost a year now and have had nothing but positive experiences. The property is conveniently located and easy to access — including for large delivery trucks. What stands out the most though is the exceptional customer support by the Mill Valley Public Storage team. When I’ve had app issues, they’ve been super helpful, and resolved a payment matter quickly and efficiently. I always look forward to seeing Vivian who brightens my day with her warmth and positive attitude. She has consistently gone above and beyond and always sees everything through, including proactively calling me to provide updates when I was looking to switch to a larger storage unit. I can’t speak highly enough of Vivian and the entire team. I wholeheartedly recommend Mill Valley Public Storage and am so glad to have found them. They can count me as a loyal and very happy customer. :) ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Public Storage - 817 Redwood Hwy include the following amenities: Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 150 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 817 Redwood Hwy start from $107 and can go up to $748 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
