Read some helpful reviews of Public Storage at 23572 Moulton Pkwy, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

The staff here are very helpful and accommodating. I'd like to give the two people I recently interacted with a shout-out by name: property manager Guy and regional manager Lizanne. I ran into a certain problem (much too long a story to go into) and they were both understanding about it and went out of their way to help me out even if, strictly speaking, they didn't necessarily have to due to company policy. I was pleasantly surprised by this personable, humanistic way of doing business as it seems to be becoming increasingly rare in today's world. Thank you, Guy and Lizanne. ... Read more

AVOID this storage company, and be cautious when reading the glowing reviews. There is an important reason many of those ratings appear overwhelmingly positive, which I will explain below. The biggest issue is the pricing and enforcement practices. The contract gives them extremely broad authority to raise rates, and they appear willing to use it aggressively. In my experience, rent increased by nearly 100% with little practical limitation. On top of that, if your payment is only a few days late, you can expect persistent phone calls and text messages. If your account becomes roughly two weeks overdue, they will deny you access to your storage unit altogether — even after already charging a late fee that can approach $40 depending on the size of the unit. In my view, once a substantial late fee has already been assessed, there should still be a reasonable grace period before someone is prevented from accessing their own belongings. That $40 fee establishes some new level of legal consideration. Locking customers out that quickly feels excessive unless there is a truly serious and ongoing failure to pay. The process becomes even more frustrating after the lockout. They will cut your personal lock as soon as policy permits and replace it with one of their own locks. Once you finally bring the account current, and are given access to the combination to THEIR lock, you can find a shiny new lock from their own leasing office inside of yours — costing more than $20 — which most people will feel compelled to buy unless they are willing to leave the property, with their chattel unlocked, while they go buy a more reasonably priced lock. As for the reviews: customers are encouraged to leave feedback immediately after opening an account, which likely explains why so many ratings are favorable - Guy is particularly good at making these requests promptly - and he is a nice lad but it emancipates this company from the issues that unfold after you've been with them a few months. Those reviews reflect the initial customer service and signup process, not the experience of dealing with the company over time once rate increases, lockouts, fees, and access problems begin. Long-term customer experiences are very different from first impressions. Military personnel should be especially careful. I repeatedly contacted management requesting that my account be converted to an active military account for a small military discount, and those messages were never answered. SPECIAL NOTE FOR SERVICE MEMBERS: before renting from any storage facility, ask direct BLUF questions about military discounts, lockout timelines, rate increase policies, and protections for service members. Do not assume any accommodation or flexibility exists unless you get very clear answers in advance. Public Storage exemplifies these issues. These policies also created practical problems for me in accessing military gear stored in the unit. While the company will point out that all of these practices are authorized by the contract, hiding behind contract language does not automatically render these practices within an average reasonable person standard. The agreement gives them unusually broad discretion, and they seem comfortable operating at the outer edge of what most people would consider fair treatment. Honestly, there are probably better alternatives. Renting garage space from a trusted friend or using another private arrangement may be safer and less stressful. For military members, MWR or NTS storage options are worth serious consideration, even if they require additional driving time. In my opinion, those alternatives provide significantly better protection and accessibility for Department of Defense equipment and other important property you will need to access, sometimes in cases of emergencies that protect the very people abusing your trust. ... Gina is a total jem! She works at Public Storage on Moulton in Laguna Woods and she went above and beyond for us we needed to switch from a smaller storage unit to a larger one, with a moving truck waiting, just at closing time. She not only helped us during this very stressful night, staying longer than she needed to, but she called my cell the next day to follow up and make sure that the storage worked out for us. She helped keep the process calm and was very caring. Thanks Gina! ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Public Storage - 23572 Moulton Pkwy include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
