Read some helpful reviews of Public Storage at 6501 Shellmound Street, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

My father passed away suddenly and left his things in this storage facility. This was handled so beautifully and I really felt supported. This wouldnt have been the case without Amber who worked at the front desk and was constantly around to ensure the safety, cleanliness, and customer support. She went absolutely above and beyond and was sweet and kind all throughout. Id give her a raise myself if I could ?? Truly advise this storage facility if you want your needs met efficiently and gracefully! ???? ... Read more

I am happy that I asked Amber if there was a way to lower the rent on a unit, that in three years, had increased significantly. She was able to accommodate me, by allowing me to rent a new unit, reducing the rent by half. What a great way to start 2026! ?? ... Read more

Just wanted to share a great experience across the board I had at Public Storage ( Emeryville ). Starting with the district manager Rick, when I showed up, no one was in the office. ( my fault for not setting up an appt.) Customer service dispatched me to Rick, who told me he had to send the guy who was supposed to be there, home sick. I wouid need to wait 2.5 hrs for the next available person to show up. I tried telling Rick I just drove 2 hrs but he assured me it was the best he could do. Not 5 min, Rick called me back, he was able to find an employee closer who was willing to leave his post to come help me. Just needed to wait 20 min. That was so totally cool of Rick to do that and I was super appreciative. Maybe 15 later, Jerry shows up, he could not have been more courteous and professional. I thanked him for being willing to come help me, he told me, that was his job! As I was just about to get to my unit, Jerry let me know, Allen would be coming and he would assist me with any further help I might need. Just when k thought it couldn’t get better, Allan arrives. If Rick and Jerry were any indicators of what you can expect at Public Storage Emeryville, then Allen was the icing on the cake. Allen, was so super helpful, he helped me find a cart, and when I was all cleaned out but could not lift a television out of the unit, he was willing to help with it. Allen definitely went above and beyond, and I saw him interact with other customers just as he did with me. I’m so grateful to Public Storage Emeryville, for making what could have been a hellacious day, bearable and dare I say, even enjoyable. A HUGE thank you to Rick, Jerry, and Allen! ... Read more

We went in and Miguel was extremely helpful. He had patience and carefully answered all our questions. He didn't rush even though we had come in at the end of the day. Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Public Storage - 6501 Shellmound Street include the following amenities: Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 12 to 400 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 6501 Shellmound Street start from $82 and can go up to $959 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
