Do NOT store your belongings here - worst possible storage experience, please read this before considering renting here. First off, mice: came back to find several of my boxes covered in mice urine and feces, and then a dead mouse underneath one of the boxes I was moving. Other renters have told me in passing they have the same issue in their unit. Second, their ceiling leaked and rained rusty water all over my unit, rusting out my smith machine, filling up my kayak with water, and getting dirty water all over my stuff. You can see in the pictures below, including the door of my unit covered in the rusty water from the roof. Of course your lease alleviates the company of all responsibility…. Third, when I signed up less than a year ago, they promised my rates wouldn’t increase in a long time and when they did, not by much. Should’ve gotten that in writing, because within three months of signing up, my rate increased by 130%. Three months later, went up again by the same amount. I’m now paying almost double my original rate in less than a year. Called management trying to figure out the why behind the rate increase and to see if there’s anything they could do for me; they gave me the cold shoulder, multiple times. I just cut ties with SecureSpace storage and will never rent with them again. On my checkout, I brought all of this up in a final attempt to receive some compensation for my trouble, but again they couldn’t care less and said 4-5 times “you don’t have our protection plan so there’s nothing we can do.” Protection plan or not, this is atrocious, and if you’re not willing to admit that and help right this wrong, especially for an active duty military member who is tired of coming back from service to this over and over again, then your company is a pathetic scam. I had to move quickly after an injury, and I found Secure Space online. It was very nearby, and they were running a special. The Great: Cody was always professional, attentive, kind, and thorough. Give this guy a big raise! The space was clean and climate-controlled - my clothes that had been stored for nearly two years didn't smell weird or like mildew at all. The Not-So-Great: this place is massive, and some of those "You Are Here" directory signs would help a lot, as the units can be a bit tough to find (why are the C units next to the M units?) The Meh: whoever owns this place will raise your rent every few months or so (it's in the contract, so you won't have any recourse if you sign) for no apparent reason. The email will say that it's to keep giving you the best service and experience. Okay, so where's the money going? There's no clubhouse or snack bar, no pool, and they're not giving it to the staff, so basically they're just raising it to be greedy. I started with a $40/month deal, and ended up at $110/month for a 5'×5' unit that didn't suddenly get better than it was when I started. It's a typical capitalist business model, exploiting the customers to keep the owners dripping in opulence. I'd try to get them to agree to not raise rents for 6 months, and then make sure they don't then raise it by 110%. Love the staff and the units, hate the obvious greediness of the owner(s). ... This company is a total fraud. They rope you in with half off your first two months. They then go to the price advertised.. then after two more months they send a notice that they are nearly doubling the price of your unit as costs are going up and so on… well after going on and researching pricing they not only have same size/similar units for HALF OF WHAT IM PAYING, but are also offering half off that price. They make themselves look really good to new customers and then end up wringing you dry. I would not recommend them to anyone. I have friends with the same size unit as mine with other storage facilities that are paying a third of what I’m paying AND they have been there a year plus and haven’t had any price increases. I opened an account with SecureSpace in May 2024. At the time they were running a special for $149.50 for 2 months and then it would go up to $299. That was fine with me. Four months later, I get a notification that my monthly rent would go up to approximately $377. I thought that was unusual to get an increase 4 months later. Kevin, who worked there at the time, contacted Corporate and asked them if they would adjust my billing. They did adjust it but only for about $35 dropping it to $336.50. Although, I was not happy that the billing did not remain at $299 I accepted the adjustment. Six months later I receive another notification that my bill will be going up to $403. How can this be? I honestly felt that this was not right and not fair. I reached out to Heidi Nance to help me through this. She was very instrumental, professional, and understanding of my situation. Due to her diligence and being proactive on my behalf my account was just charged $336.50 which is the amount that I’ve been paying for the last several months. I hope that this amount remains for the foreseeable future. I am so grateful and appreciative for the work that Heidi did to make me a happy customer. BEWARE!!!!! In my opinion this is the most UNETHICAL BUSINESS! They may have a nice building and helpful staff, but the owner's business practices are not to be believed! You can expect to be lured in with initial discounts like half off for 2 months and then get ready for RENT INCREASES that happen often. The most outrageous thing is I was recently given a SIGNIFICANT RENT INCREASEE THAT IS MORE THAN WHAT THEY ARE ADVERETISING FOR THE SAME REGULAR PRICED SPACE! In other words, I am being told I have to pay more than what they charge others that are new!
