The operators, Emund and Allyn, are a wonderfully friendly and helpful couple! The facility is neat, clean and easily accessible. The storage units are made of wood with concrete floors, but were exactly what we needed. We had to move on an incredibly tight timeline, and we were accommodated with ease and grace. That personal touch and attention, was deeply appreciated during such a high stress time. We traveled a bit further compared to other options that were closer to our home, but it has been well worth it! ... Read more

Nice new facility. I have used several Derrels facilities and this one seems to be the same as the rest to store our RV. The only downside is there is no dump station here. From my conversation with staff it sounds like future plans are to eliminate the RV spots in future years and replace with storage units 10 or 20 years down the road. In the mean time you’re RV or trailer parking spot is on concrete, no rocks. Manager is friendly and there are multiple cameras covering the facility. I feel my RV is safe so far. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Derrel-s Mini Storage - 3333 Fairfax Road Suite A include the following amenities: Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Keyless Unit Access, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
