Reasons to love living in Dallas

Dallas always gets a bad rap for being full of silicone and steakhouses, for being pretentious and super conservative. While yes, there is a lot of that in Big D it’s not all as bad as it sounds. It’s just a little hard for Dallas to break the stereotypes when Austin keeps reminding us that it is not, nor will it ever be, as cool as they are. To that I say, “Thhhhhhhppppp!!!” When it comes down to it, Dallas really ain’t so bad. Here are five reasons Dallas is a special place to live:

• Dallas is kind of an international hub. We have a Nobu, a Beretta gallery, a Ritz Carlton and our very own I.M. Pei, among other things. In other words, almost everything in the world is available in Dallas. Not bad for a city without a port.

•  The Big D is expected to become a city of renters with a large supply of rental units under construction. The city is also relatively affordable, as renting in Dallas will get you more space and nicer interiors for cheaper when compared to similar areas of other major cities.

• Finding a neighborhood to hang your hat in Dallas is kind of like a “choose your own adventure” book. There is a neighborhood for everyone: hipsters, yuppies, families, artists, fashionistas. Just pick your flavor. Tired of your flavor? Then move. Dallas is the kind of place where you can move across town and have a completely different experience.

• Dallas has some pretty stellar sports teams (and even a roller derby team). All of our teams have been to their respective championships at some point in time. (Although we are still waiting for that World Series pennant… just sayin’.

• Lastly, when you do have a really bad week and just want to get away, Dallas is the proud owner of one giant international airport that’s also a hub of a major airline. This makes it easy and cheap(ish) to get away when you need to.
