Overall what should be a lovely place to live is not

The condition of the courtyard and area in front of the courtyard is deplorable. It looks neglected and run down. The maintenance of the common areas (front stair hallway and back stairs/porch) is non-existent. Currently the spiders and spiderwebs overtaking the back stairs has literally rendered the stairway unusable (unless you enjoy being covered in cobwebs by the time you get to the bottom). The front stairwell is never cleaned unless I enter a maintenance request. The carpet on the stairs is torn and appears as though it has never been cleaned. As far as "noise"... if you're unlucky enough to live above someone/people who scream at each other day and night you should keep it to yourself or risk retaliation from the management company. Overall the interior of the apartments is fair at best. Sloppy painting between tenants as resulted in paint splatter all over the wood floors. The windows are falling apart and NEVER cleaned. The bathroom has been "patched up" over the years (vs updated) in the name of maintaining the "vintage" qualities that are now either painted over, caulked over or just plain ruined because of attempts to retrofit repairs. All that said, I would give the building engineer for my building 5 stars for his responsiveness and helpfulness always.
