I'm still trying to figure out exactly what the extra step is for paying over the phone... I've been told at no fault of the managers that an additional $5 is going to be chargeding me if I'm paying over the phone and I ask what extra step are you doing that justifies this extra $5?Now?Just to make a point I decided to call while I was closing my storage and walk in the store while I was on the phone and I asked the very nice lady. And very helpful Christian. Could I please make my payment? She informed me that she was going to have to charge me $5 for paying over the phone and yet I am standing right in front of her. I was simply trying to make a point. Is what extra step are you taking that justifies this $5??... It makes absolutely no sense and in my opinion. Owners are simply trying to nickel and dime every cent. They can out of loyal customers which I am.. please, if you would kindly respond to me and explain to me how you justify that $5 when I am standing right in front of the young lady who let me explain again is very sweet and nice. And still have to pay five dollars? This makes absolutely no sense. And you are absolutely nickel and diamond wherever you can.... ... Read more

The manager is nice and seems helpful but overall this is looking like a major nightmare. Apparently nothing that I have stored there is safe and management is evidently okay with that. I am very disappointed in the lack of concern over paying customers' valued possessions. I feel that moving my belongings here was a major mistake from which I will have a difficult time recovering and the lack of security is an abomination. All I can say is do not store ANYTHING here if you care about it. ... Read more

I’ve been so angry that I couldn’t even write a review, but now, after realizing my newborn’s diapers and wipes are also missing, I’m absolutely fuming. Who steals baby items? How low can someone go? Ironically, the woman working in the office happens to be pregnant… Here’s the story: At the end of November, I moved everything I own into storage because I was going on unpaid maternity leave. I’m a single mother staying temporarily with family. I gave birth in mid-December. On Christmas Eve, I went to the storage unit to drop off larger diapers and extra boxes of wipes that I wouldn’t need immediately. I had purchased these over the course of my pregnancy, knowing I’d be without income, and received many at my baby shower. Everything was intact at that time. Fast forward to January 3rd. I returned to the storage to grab a few things, only to find a tag on my unit and the lock missing. At first, I thought I was at the wrong building, but I wasn’t. I opened the unit, only to find what I thought were all my belongings, aside from my 75-inch TV that was now missing. I immediately called the police, who were just as confused as I was. They contacted the onsite property manager, who was the pregnant woman I mentioned earlier. Her story kept changing and she wasn't very cooperative. She first said the unit was vacant, then later admitted recognizing my name and said the thief must have stolen a tag from another unit and placed it on mine afterwards. When the officer suggested this might be an inside job and asked about security cameras, her story changed again. She said several units had been burglarized on the 30th/31st, that thieves had cut through the fence (which was intact imo, see), and that only the front of the property had cameras. When asked if the police had been contacted and her name would be attached to the report, she claimed they were, but she was conveniently off that day. Meanwhile, there was a man that she named her bf in the background yelling causing a commotion. Officers had to intervene. It’s beyond me why he was so upset when my things had been stolen. The property manager told the officer I could come by the next day, but after thinking it over, it just didn’t add up. If the thieves had stolen my TV, they would have had to carry a large 75in TV across train tracks, through a field near the police station, fit it through a chain-link fence without causing damage and walk down Highway 3 to a vehicle without being noticed. The math isn’t mathing. The next day, I went by to find her with her shirt up and belly out (didn’t even bother to pull her shirt down; what a professional appearance) and was met with immediate confrontation about the police having her personal number. She even claimed she asked corporate about it—why would I have that info to give? When I told her that she was listed as “key holder” for emergencies, she said she wasn’t the manager after 6 p.m. and only worked during business hours. No apology or concern was expressed. When I asked why I wasn’t contacted and why my unit was left unsecured, she said I wasn’t listed as a burglarized unit when they checked the others, and couldn’t explain why mine wasn’t included. She also claimed she didn’t know who had placed the tag. I was referred to contact the 1800 number when asked to speak with a superior and was asked to provide an explanation as to why I was asking. Today, I remembered the diapers and wipes I dropped off on Christmas Eve and am officially livid. iStorage needs to investigate these burglaries. With missing items, conflicting stories, and uncooperative management, it feels like an inside job. The lack of transparency and security is unacceptable. This is not how a storage facility should operate, especially when people trust them with their personal belongings. I really hope iStorage investigates thoroughly. ... Read more

It’s very disappointing to be paying top dollar for an inside unit and not have working lights in the hallway. I don’t feel safe even going in the daytime as the lighting has been out since we moved into our unit. The local manager , Christian is great , but the lighting needs to be fixed ASAP ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at iStorage - 410 Old Galveston Road include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Truck Rentals, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 525 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by iStorage - 410 Old Galveston Road start from $19 and can go up to $251 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
