Read some helpful reviews of Big Red Barn Self Storage at 6503 West Adams, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

I had two storage units here. One climate controlled and one regular unit. We cleaned out majority of our units today and put in our moving out notice. Our non climate controlled unit, we had to throw away majority of everything that was in there as the “rat” problem they have has cost us personal items. Our boxes got chewed into, couch ruined, there was rat poop everywhere. Honestly so so so disgusting, and they still charged us full price. Maybe you should not rent the units out to people if you know you have a rat problem. Or atleast give us a discounted rate. If we would have known our belongings would have been torn up by rats, we would have kept our belongings in a random barn for FREE. Very disappointed. I don’t suggest using a non-climate controlled storage unit here unless want your belongings to be tore up by rats. ... Read more

Beware of rodents! While trying to move to the area, we stored some of our things here which ended up damaged. Thankfully, we had insurance. The management did not offer any solutions other than they aren't responsible. One employee told us..."You are basically storing your stuff in a garage, what do you expect?" We stored our next load at Temple Star Storage...and THAT is where we found the service and cleanliness that anyone should expect. ... Read more

Please be careful here, if you can't pay your rent because you have been very sick for the last month and tell them they will have to sell your unit. Then 2 months later they charge you all the late fees and tell you to come put a new lock on your unit. I didn't have the money to get it. You stole that money. Now my family can't eat. Thank you Big Red Barn ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Big Red Barn Self Storage - 6503 West Adams include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Gate, Credit Cards Accepted and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
