We have been renting here for almost 3 years and really don’t have any issues, in the beginning we did have a leak but we fixed it. Other than that it’s ok, the workers are awesome! We just had a storage unit sale and the new lady I can’t remember her name but she was a big help she even helped and put signs up for us. I highly recommend this place ... Read more

After the San Marcos Flood of 2015, River Road Storage (who already had problems calling back for regular payments) did not answer or return calls for months. In this time, they continued to tack late charges on their customers (including one of which who is a friend). When I finally came back with a truck and trailer to retrieve my items (you can guess it, after no phone response from RRS), the owner flat refused to waive any fees (despite us offering to pay the monthly rate even with our items being damaged) which would've made it affordable to save the unit's contents. Bless the heart of the woman who worked there, but the owner (older guy) is an awful person and business owner. Edit: New staff does not replace the items I lost because of your shady business practices. You were charging flood victims late fees while you refused to answer the phone or open your doors for payment, and you refused to compromise or apologize for completing failing myself and others. It was awesome that your staff already knew what items they wanted to take from the unit when we finally did find y'all on-site - y'all had no intent on making anything right. Y'all took advantage of us after a flood. ... Read more

In the summer of 2019 , they stole all of my music equipment , high end clothing , and vinyls ( that were given to me by a deceased family member) they even claimed that one of their staff members saw my unit was open and closed it .. even though I locked it / double checked to make sure it was locked & used their lock , and it was not broken at all after my unit had been robbed ... The case was never solved and I lost about $10000+ worth of items. The owner also refused to take any responsibility as well & told me I should of had insurance.. DO NOT STORE ANYTHING HERE EVER IF YOU VALUE YOUR ITEMS IT IS NOT SAFE AT ALL. I WOULD GIVE THIS PLACE 0 STARS IF I COULD. ... Read more

I got a 10% veteran's discount and favorable discount for a 10x10. Bring one of those round locks because they don't like any other and will lock you out until you do. My only gripe was the manager offering a lock without telling me the cost would be on the next bill. I know I should have known better but he acted like it was free. It's still a great place for non-climate adjusted storage with great security. ... Read more

We rented a storage unit approximately 2 weeks ago. We showed up yesterday to pick up our items and found our unit ran sacked and many of our items stolen. They stole our TV’s, clothes, shoes, and jewelry. The lock was not broken. The owner stated they only have a working camera up front but no where else. He stated their gate also doesn’t work sometimes so random people do enter. The most suspicious part Is that we bought a lock /key system from them. It clearly looks like an inside job. We have filed a police report and plan to aggressively hold them accountable through any means necessary. I have read a few other comments/ reviews of workers stealing from the storage units. I do not recommend this place. Shameful. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at River Road Self Storage - 880 River Road include the following amenities: Drive-Up Access, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Gate, Parking and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by River Road Self Storage - 880 River Road start from $49 and can go up to $1,239 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
