This is where your stuff goes to GET STOLEN. My unit got broken into TWICE while I was here. Everyone I talked to either had their unit broken into or knew someone who did. Sure they have cameras on the entry and exit gate to make it L@@K safe when you come to sign up, but the thieves just cut the locks on the OTHER gates where there are no cameras. See picture of the non working camera. Sad part is they had cameras they could put up, the owner is just too cheap to do so. Bottom line, you better ask for $50-$100 a month OFF your rent and put your own alarm system on your unit because it's GOING TO GET BROKEN INTO, it's only a matter of time. The smart thing is just go somewhere where they have working security. The thieves KNOW there is none here and it's just an open looting fest. So if people keep renting here (giving them their money) why would the owner bother improving security? The answer is HE WON'T. You've been warned. ... Read more

Gave out wrong information when we were ready to move out, 1 person said it will be prorated so we emptied the storage, only to find out it will not be prorated and basically we would be charged $330 for 1 week. After being a customer for more than 5 years, they refused to prorate or even consider for possibly charging less for the 1 week. Very bad customer service and does not appreciate any loyalty. ... Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 50 to 400 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Southwest Mini Storage - 5811 49th Street start from $60 and can go up to $200 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
