Manager is very rude. First I arrive the manager would NOT give me a gate code to get in the gate or use the elevator then after her arguing she finally gave me the code at 4:50 she came to the elevator and was telling us we had to leave the property and was blocking us from using the elevator to get the last load of our things out we had to go under her arm to be able to use the elevator and there were several other witnesses to this not part of my group then when we tried to leave we went out the gate and the manager refused to give my drivers license back to me and argued for a while until I told her I was going to call the police unless she gave me the id back the lady said she has been the manager for 3 years at the location of beltway 8 in humble Texas for 3 years and she could do whatever she wanted I do not recommend this place at all plus they do have rats here ... I have been a paying customer at this Public Storage for 1 year and 4 months and have always paid on time without any issues. Recently, I lost the key to my unit and went to the office for help. The staff member Natasha, at the front desk was dismissive, unhelpful, and provided me with false information. I asked her for options as to how I could resolve my issue or if she had a master key, or if she could open it for me. She said I had two options, call for a locksmith (which that was a PROCESS itself) or wait until the end of the month. I the proceeded to ask what I could do take matters into my own hands. She told me I could not cut my own lock and that I would have to wait until the end of the month for someone to come remove it. She also refused to provide any locksmith contacts or resources. I was just honestly looking for some help and exploring ways to get into my unit. I JUST KNEW THERE had to be more options. So I called Public Storage corporate directly, they confirmed I am allowed to cut my own lock as long as no damage is done to the door hardware. I immediately arranged for a licensed locksmith, but the unhelpful attitude from the front desk staff made the situation far more stressful than necessary. Customers rely on staff to provide accurate information and assist with urgent situations—not to create roadblocks or act dismissively. If I had trusted her word without checking with corporate, I would have been locked out of my belongings for weeks. I can only imagine how many people she has also made feel hopeless who don’t speak up for themselves or accept answers because they don’t know how to advocate for themselves. I hope management addresses this, as this type of treatment is unacceptable for paying customers.i am also waiting on a call from district to let them know about the situation because id hate for an elderly person to go through this, or someone who is afraid to speak up, someone who has a disability, someone who doesn’t speak English well. I’m typing this review for myself but also mainly for those WHO CANT. If she has the highest position to represent this branch, she has to have a better and more helpful attitude. She was talking on the phone with her friends, going back and forth with me, arguing with me. Just so unprofessional and RUDE. ... Read more

I cannot believe how inaccessible actual human workers are at this location. First, please note that workers are RARELY on site, so resolving issues in a timely manner will not happen. Second, we ran into a problem that this location has indicated a third-party service will need to fix. We were told we'd be responsible for the cost of said fee. However, I cannot understand what is taking so long to communicate the cost. We have now been unable to access the unit for four days. While we know it takes time to gather info, there has been no communication on this location's end. We have been calling and calling to resolve the matter to meet yet another roadblock. I expected more professionalism. ... Read more

Originally we called this facility to get a unit to store a cargo trailer. After giving dimensions and all the details, we were advised that the trailer would fit and there would be no problems with utilizing the storage space. Upon arrival, there was no way to get the trailer into the space reserved. I requested a move. Nope, no refunds. A transfer to another facility. Nope, no refunds. With 3 kinds in college, I am not in business to spends funds carelessly. The manager told me she was sorry and there was nothing that could be done. So it seems this company does its best to get you to sign the reservation and then keep the funds if the unit doesn’t work for you. The money spent could have easily bought a few books for one of our kids but it seems the owner of this facility needed it more for a unit that we informed his manager we could not use and the very next day! No refunds! Very well understood, but anyone with an interest to do business here, look elsewhere before. Not a pleasant experience! Still can’t believe we handed over money for no reason and couldn’t get a refund when there was absolutely no way to use the storage unit! ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Public Storage - 8717 North Sam Houston Pkwy East include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 250 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 8717 North Sam Houston Pkwy East start from $34 and can go up to $390 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
