VERY EXPENSIVE, 2x-3x price of competitors after 3-mo. initial discount expires, but you get first class facility, pristine clean, highest quality security, spacious loading dock, 2 excellent big elevators (altho one is often being serviced) wide and open hallways. But not a place to hang out in your unit arranging or reorganizing storage items since the one and only public bathroom is accessible during office hours only and even then requires you to find the manager to lock up the office and then walk over and open with a key. Main manager always helpful, but backup is low energy and doesn't like to be bothered. Plus loud Muzak is piped in everywhere that can be annoying and can't be turned off. ... Read more

I don’t think I’ve ever had a good experience with a storage facility—until now. I accidentally booked the wrong unit online and called Big Tex Storage expecting a hassle. Instead, I got Ray. Ray was kind, patient, and handled everything quickly and easily. No stress. No runaround. Just genuinely helpful service from someone who clearly cares. In a world where customer service often feels like a lost art, this little interaction stood out in the best way. Thanks, Ray. You made a potentially frustrating day feel easy. ... Read more

Would give 0 stars if I could. Been with them for 7 months and would still be there because of their security. Nichole the manager is the reason that I left on today. She is rude, not compassionate, miserable, tremendously unhappy, mean and evil!! I try not to keep score of wrongs done to me, but she is a horrible, horrible person. She would harass me at every turn it felt like. She's like an abusive husband in a bad marriage! She was pretending to be kind when I first signed up, but then she changed once she figured that I wasn't going anywhere, but I'm out of there, as of today!! Taking my hard- earned dollars elsewhere.!!! Also, she wouldn't even speak! Go Elsewhere for a better kinder, peaceful experience. Nichole, keep your misery to your evil self!! ... Read more

I recently moved to Houston and had the best experience with Big Tex Storage on Montrose. They provided a turn-key experience that enabled me to store my belongings when I arrived in Houston and the use of their moving truck to retrieve and move things into my home when it was ready. The covered parking allows for easy access to the units with cover from rain and the elements. It's been a great experience! ... Read more

I have been with BT for about one month, and I can say their product and service is superior. Super clean, well-lit, cameras and keypads for security, etc. I used their truck for the move-in (an awesome perk that save me many trips). Overall, you can't go wrong with Big Tex. ... Read more

I’ve had my unit for about 30 days. This is a great example of ‘you get what you pay for’. I went with a cheaper storage place with a unit on the 2nd floor. After 30 days of not being able to utilize my unit because the elevator was broken, and multiple calls to the front office and the 1-800 number with no call backs or results, I had a enough and spent about $30 more on a unit at Big Tex. HAPPY I DID! The location is convenient, push carts are available to use, it’s well lit, cameras everywhere, and I feel safe and secure when visiting at night. You have a code to enter the building and a code to use the elevator. TVs display real-time footage of the public areas and floors. The on-site reps respond to emails and answer the phone. Also, I know those cheap storage places jack up your rent after a year, never again. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Big Tex Self Storage - 4503 Montrose Blvd include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Truck Rentals, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Enclosed, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Big Tex Self Storage - 4503 Montrose Blvd start from $99 and can go up to $599 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
