I moved a lot in my time and Natalie helped me during a really stressful move and made the whole storage process smooth. She was kind, knowledgeable, and didn’t rush me and walked me through pricing, access, and security, and made sure I understood everything while I was going through a rough time. Great customer service from start to finish. ... Read more

Google REVIEW ON DECEMBER 7, 2024 I am a senior citizen whose only income is from Social Security, and SSI. VERY LITTLE income, I might add. I met Cesar & Tanya on December 1st, 2024. I explained my situation, including several issues I've had with my unit and this property. After talking with them for a few minutes I realized how knowledgeable, attentive, courteous, and patient they were. They really care about their jobs, and are willing to assist everyone above and beyond their job description. They provide professional customer service to everyone. They found another unit for me, and I agreed to transfer to the other unit on December 4th. They got me a better rate, and completed the transfer successfully. I moved my belongings to the other unit before the office closed on December 4th. What a relief! Thank you! Before I rented a space at this location on 8600 Spring Valley Rd., Dallas, TX 75240, I had an indoor, climate controlled unit at 9110 Markville Dr. Dallas, TX 75243. I never saw a manager on property the entire time I was there, until several units were broken into, including mine. I moved out on December 29-30, 2022. I moved into a unit at 8600 Spring Valley Rd. in March, 2024. Previously, 8600 Spring Valley Rd. was a Security Self Storage before Public Storage took over the property. The front gates were broken several times, and several outside lights were not working, which is a security issue. The property looked quite run down, with trash everywhere. The trash dumpster was overflowing every time I came here. The unit I moved into had part of the rear, northwest corner wall unsecured. Also, the light didn't work. Cobey checked the breaker box, but couldn't get the light to work. He said he would repair the issues. He never did. Then Amanda & Julie replaced Cobey. It took Julie several weeks to remove an old bed mattress next to my unit. When it rained I noticed there was water leaking into my unit from the ground on the south side. I reported it, and was assured it would be repaired. It never was. There was also a person living in the unit next to mine. There were several incidents with homeless people on the property, and nearby. Amanda & Julie seemed to care about resolving all the issues, but were unsuccessful. I have tried contacting customer service several times, most recently on November 29, 2024. Public Storage says: "If you have any difficulty using our website, please contact us at 1-800-688-8057 where our representatives can provide assistance." I tried that number, as well as (866) 247-6620, (800) 567-0759, and (800) 742-8048. I never was able to contact a real person successfully, and talk with anyone. With all the unresolved, past issues, I would rate this property 1 ?. UPDATES: I witnessed equipment and several workers in the front gate area December 4th & 5th, 2024. They are replacing the 2 old gates with a newer design entry and exit gate system that should be more secure. I hope so. Almost all the outside lights are working now. They have removed the dumpster, and the spaces are being rented for parking. They are keeping the property cleaner. They have a CCTV, closed-circuit television, video surveillance/security monitoring system in the office. The light inside my unit works. Now I will be able to access and utilize my space after dark, between approximately 5 pm to the 9 pm closing time during the winter months. Positive improvements are taking place here! That's why I gave a 5 ? ? ? ? ? review. Thank you Cesar, Tanya, and Public Storage! Keep up the good work! BRIAN K. ... Read more

I know it's hard to believe but I love this this Public Storage location. The property itself is new to the Public Storage family but they are steadily improving the property. My favorite part about this Public Storage though is the property manager Ceasar. Ceasar is extremely helpful and has handy tips for making the most of your storage unit. I have several climate controlled units at this property and very recently Caesar helped me consolidate my units into 1 building where they are easier for me to manage. It took Caesar and I an hour to complete the aforementioned consolidation and Caesar as always was patient and helpful. I can get storage anywhere but I'll be doing business with Public Storage for the foreseeable future primarily due to Caesar! ... Read more

I had previously rented from the storage company Security Self Storage from 2017 thru Dec 2023 when it was sold to Public Storage. I rented 2 very large units, and then just one. Previously the facility was very clean and the managers (who lived on property) were great and professional. I absolutely cannot say the same now that it has been bought. Here are the things that changed for the worst: 1. The front gate is always broken making it a security issue and also looking quite run down. I guess it's good if you want all hours access! Which ir used to be in the past, and never an issue then. A big plus to be able to unload and unpack at night.. But now you have no access after 9 and the whole place has really gone downhill. 2. The place and care of it has gone to hell. The grass is about 2 feet tall, the indoor storage has big puddles of pee in the halls and smells awful (likely homeless living nearby). Clearly no one has bothered w maintenance of the property. 3. There is no staff living on premise to watch over things like before. There are lots of homeless in the area so who knows what goes on. I wouldn't risk storing valuables there. 4. There is trash all over the place. The dumpster is usually overflowing w trash in the most atrocious way. 5. Not only has the property gone downhill in every way, but the prices almost doubled. I went from paying $250 to over $400 for a large outside unit. I got out of there as quickly as I could! Better deals to be had elsewhere. The new guy I've met up front (Coby) seemed like he was trying his best, so all I can say is that this is a company wide problem. I also started renting another unit elsewhere and have had a better experience there. The pricing is better too. I did report lights out all over the property and as of weeks later no improvement has been made. It seems public storage is another greedy corporation who cares more about money than customers. I have also heard from others that had their trailer stolen recently. I'm not surprised. In the past that was never a concern but with the lack of maintenance or anyone on property and the gate constantly broken, I am not that surprised. I hope public storage would read and make changes but I doubt they will. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Public Storage - 8600 Spring Valley Road include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, First Floor Access, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 50 to 480 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 8600 Spring Valley Road start from $61 and can go up to $268 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
