Did you know that April is officially designated as National Fair Housing Month? It is, and to celebrate, RentCafe collaborated with the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) to bring you more info about your housing rights!

In observance of the 1968 passage of the Federal Fair Housing Act, the TDHCA encourages all state and local leaders, property managers, neighborhood associations and citizens to use April as a time to foster meaningful discussions about fair housing choice and opportunities, and for everyone to learn more about how fair housing impacts them.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) and HUD are jointly responsible for enforcing the Fair Housing Act. If you believe your rights under the federal Fair Housing have been violated, you can file inquiries or complaints online, or seek assistance from local HUD offices here.
