San Jose Increases Rental Inventory: See the 9 Largest Local Developments Completed in 2015

San Jose is a mecca for big IT employers, start-ups hoping to hit overnight success, and folks on the lookout for well-paid jobs. It’s no wonder that the city hosts over a million residents (and just about the same number of jobs!). The tech driven boom has come at a price, though: the rental rates and the overall cost of living are among the highest in the country.
To meet the demand, last year alone, 9 large rental developments (of 50+ units) came online, delivering 2,317 new apartments for rent to the local market, according to data provided by Yardi Matrix. The growth is almost on par with the number of units and projects delivered in 2014: 8 developments, comprising 2,569 units.
In 2015 the local inventory was spiced up by a great variety of rental projects: green buildings (Avalon Morrison Park), luxurious high-rises (One South Market), partially affordable developments (Anton La Moraga includes 78 apartments for low-income tenants), or super-sized communities (Crescent Village, with 2,000+ units).
