Where to rent in Phoenix: Follow the rails

Share this article:

Unquestionably the hottest rental market these days can be found in downtown Phoenix, within a mile in either direction of the METRO light rail. If you’re looking for the newest “it” place to live, simply follow the rails.

In the past, downtown Phoenix was a virtual ghost town in the evenings, unless there was a home Suns or Diamondbacks game.  Take a drive downtown tonight and you may be astonished how things have changed.  With increased police presence, sophisticated lighting and a much stronger sense of community, downtown Phoenix is drawing in a much friendlier crowd. The hottest bars, clubs, restaurants, shops and hangouts have sprung up all over downtown, but the best spots are within stumbling distance from light rail stops.

Not only has the light rail breathed life back into the heart of Phoenix, it has also become the lifeline for the best places to rent throughout the valley.

The Willow District: Absolutely gorgeous historical homes built in the 1920’s and 1930’s are available for rent in the Willow District, which is officially between Thomas and McDowell, and 1st and 7th Avenue. These homes are reasonably priced as rentals (incredibly expensive to buy) and equipped with three light rail stops throughout. You’ll definitely get that close knit sense of community living around here.

High Rise Living: Anticipating a surge in popularity from the light rail, developers began building upward along the light rail lines.  If you’re looking for an ultra modern bachelor/bachelorette pad or a fun young couple starter spot, you’d be smart to check out the high rise option.

Single Family Homes – You’ll be able to find homes all along the light rail line in all stages of remodel.  Undoubtedly there will be a home right for you and your family’s needs if you’re flexible as to where you would prefer to live.  The majority of these homes were originally constructed anywhere from the 1950’s to the 1970’s so the square footage is a bit less than in more suburban areas.

Young adults and families are flooding into the flourishing and suddenly trendy heart of the valley.  If you’re looking for easy living, central location, a close proximity to just about everything and living in the midst of the most happening section of Phoenix, then look no farther. Start seeking your light rail proximate Phoenix apartment today.
