Hunting for an apartment to live in Phoenix… now there’s a tough job. I know, we’ve all been there. Here are a few tricks that might help you ease the search.
Most renters nowadays seek lifestyle and convenience in their apartment choices, with easy access to both jobs and entertainment options. Of course, Phoenix apartments have a lot to offer, but you have to decide on what’s most important for you.
Maybe now ‘s the time to do a little introspection; think about what kind of person you are; if you prefer quiet life and you’re not much of a socialite, you might like living in the suburbs. But then you’d have to love driving cause there’s a long way to Phoenix, especially if you work in the city. And commuting is a nightmare.
While all of the Phoenix suburbs are great places to live, Scottsdale stands out by far as the most expensive and selective of them all; Chandler and Gilbert are excellent for young families, Mesa is quite affordable and Ahwatukee is a good choice if you are into hiking and mountain biking. If you are a college student you should definitely go for Tempe, it’s really fun and there are lots of things to do, see and eat in the area.
If you’ve found an apartment that you like and it also suits your budget, the next step is to check amenities. Does the complex have a nice swimming pool? Living in a hot place like Phoenix, it’s the one thing you can’t do without. It’s also always nice to have a place to work out, a well-equipped fitness center would be awesome; some of the communities feature beautiful landscaping. That’s a plus! Do not forget to ask about extra fees and parking options! It might get really crowded with all the people coming to the ‘burbs lately.
But if you’re more like a “going-out” type of person and you enjoy fast-paced urban living, you definitely need to look for a place in the heart of it all. You’ll appreciate all the clubs, upscale shopping destinations and remarkable dining venues that Downtown has to offer.
You could also try looking for a place in South Phoenix, North Phoenix, Midtown or the Biltmore Area which are also highly appreciated. But remember: all good stuff comes at a price! Rents will be a bit higher in these areas.
