Charlotte’s Largest Rental Developments Deliver a Record 4,600+ Units in 2015: See the 10 Top Producers

You may have noticed this past year a myriad of new mid-rise wood-framed buildings — almost look-alikes — popping up at prominent intersections throughout Charlotte. They are obvious signs of a tremendous increase in the number of new developments — as the city saw a record year for apartment construction in 2015, according to the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association.
A total number of 4,634 apartments for rent were delivered in 2015 by large residential developments (those with 50+ units) in Charlotte, according to data from Yardi Matrix, a 60 percent increase over 2014.
This is somewhat expected if we consider that in recent years Charlotte has repeatedly made the top of the list of fastest growing cities in the U.S., according to Forbes rankings, United Nations city population projections, and the latest U.S. Census Bureau data. The strong demand created a record-breaking boom in apartments for rent in Charlotte.
