Be cautious renting here

As a former resident and guarantor for a young adult moving to Charlotte for their first job, we wish we had looked more closely at reviews before signing at The Penrose. The tour was great, but once we signed the lease, the management became very difficult to work with. Like others have reported, they ignore repeated requests about the return of the security deposit. Now that the lease has ended, we are experiencing the same. The deposit amount isn’t large, but withholding it is unethical and against North Carolina law, which requires deposits be returned within 30 days. As guarantors, we proactively provided every document requested and even submitted legal paperwork to resolve the issue, yet weeks have passed with no response. That was our experience during the entirety of the lease. Being completely ignored or having requests met with difficulties. Be aware of this pattern when considering renting here.

The Penrose is a good place to live. The pool and gym are nice and the location is great

Changing quickly

Ive lived here 2.5 years and in that time the neighborhood has changed so much. Theres alot more families living in the building now as well as noisy neighbors. Cars are broken into every month in guest parking. Just not the same

Location of the Penrose is amazing!

The location is great! It has a bunch of breweries, bars, restaurants, and more within walking distance. Not to mention the closest light rail station is within a 10 minute walk to get to other places around Charlotte.

Best value in south end

Great location in the heart of south end. Lovely interior and great amenities as well as community events. The staff is also very helpful and friendly.
