Read some helpful reviews of Northwest Self Storage at 215 SE Morrison Street, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

I have to update my review because of the broken elevator and lack of management communication. I had been trying to move out of my unit since early November. The elevator was broken for 2 months. To get my essentials I had to carry boxes down 6 flights of stairs which are not the safest stairs known to man. After inquiring about how they can be made right, I have not received a call back, email, or any form of communication after several messages and emails. I did not expect this to be so challenging. ... Read more

If I could give a 0 I would. I rented a creative space on their 6th floor for 2 years, I have complaints about that but that’s not why I’m here. I had to move out in August due to personal reasons. I did everything they asked, did a walk through and was cleared with no problems. When inquiring about getting my deposit back I was told 6-8 weeks before I would receive it in check form in the mail. After 10 weeks of no deposit I went back in to see why. They said that whoever was in charge before did not submit it and that it would take another 6-8 weeks, that was at the end of October. I waited another 8 weeks, still no check, so I went back down there at the end of December to get answers, and was told that it was still not submitted correctly but it should be fixed and I should receive my check by last Friday. Guess what, no check. So I went down there this morning and was informed that it is going to be another 6-8 weeks before I receive my check. This was my last straw I have been advised to take legal action and unless I receive my check in the next week that’s exactly what I’ll do. I’ve done everything I can on my end to rectify this with no avail. Do not rent from this company. If my issue is taken care of immediately I will update this review but I don’t see that happening. Renters beware. ... Read more

If I could give this zero stars right now I would-this is an eight– I repeat eight floor unit and since October the elevator has been out. I pay a lot of money for two units on the eighth floor that I cannot access. If I were to not pay my rent for two months, You can bet that would get action and yet they can collect my rent but not give me access to my unit and still think that that’s OK. Whatever you do don’t rent here. They are expensive, but the service here is not worth it. Get. The. Elevator. Fixed. Update: Renters beware. If you rent a unit and then leave before the Month is up, unlike other fairly minded storage units, they keep your whole months rent- no prorated offers here! Oh. But once you’re out they turn around and re-rent your vacated unit making twice the rent for the same space! I could go on and on but just do yourself a favor and stay clear of this place and company. They Don’t deal fairly and don’t seem to care about their units or customers. ... Read more

The elevator had been non-functional mores time than not. It currently is broken down yet again, with no ETA for when it would be usable We've had a unit there for almost a year. I've been there probably 7 or 8 times during that time to move things in or out, and it has been broken at least 5 times, I would say. That's an incredible inconvenience. Time is valuable and it was wasted every time. They aren't open at night, so I need to use my weekends instead of popping in after work. Sometimes the entry would be locked during open hours and a phone # would be posted to call for assistance, but no one would answer We are going to move our things out once the elevator is working again, but I'm worried about scheduling a day to do so, because the elevator will likely be broken again that day I chose this place because the price was low. I figured that was because of the limited hours and because other places were temperature controlled and newer. However, regularly not being able to access my property or move it in or out of the facility is just insane to me. I will forever tell anyone I know that needs storage to stay away from not only this location but the entire company. ... Read more

Hate this place! Had a unit here for years and the prices have jumped every year actually feels like every few months…the ONLY elevator never works or is being used with no regard to other users. Units are constantly being messed with since there is 1 employee and no security or codes to get in at all just open air people come and go use bathroom and the place to hang out look for shit to take. I moved to A-1 storage minutes away and it’s literally same price no elevators and climate controlled secured entry and better hours. They are trying to pay for reviews or something cuz the new ones sound fake. It’s bought out by a huge corporation so they do no repairs or fixes just charge more and more. ... Read more

I have been renting storage from the building at 2nd and Southeast Morrison on and off since 1989. And while it has been acquired by a large corporation, the service at this unit is still stellar. You'd never know they were owned by a corporation that continues to cut labor and make the company function with less. And I cansay that was NOT the case at other Northwest Storage locations I have used. Tad Clark and his crew are incredibly helpful. They go out of the way to make sure customers are taken care of. This certainly was the case for me and I watched the team do it for other customers as well. This is a mixed used building down on the river. It doesn't have security, gates and cameras like you see out in the suburbs. It is merely an old Warehouse building with mixed use of storage and creative space and retail space. But Tad and team make it all work-- even when I have arrived first thing in the morning to find needles and broken bottles on the loading dock. I used to say this place was worth it because of the funky location. Now I say it's worth it because of Tad and his crew. I have watched the company increase our rent every 3 months and I sometimes wonder what I'm paying for. I realize what I am truly paying for is a stellar customer service offered by Tad. ... This building is such a fun place. It offers several floors of storage, and a couple floors of mixed use workshop / storage space. Interesting characters abound working on all sorts of projects and disciplines. I rented a workshop space on the 6th floor, and loved my experience with staff, management, and the other tenants. The prices are very fair and the atmosphere is way outside of the cookie cutter self storage places available elsewhere. The 110 year old building was originally a John Deere implement factory, and still offers the same giant freight elevator built for its original use. The elevator does have occasional issues, but the owners make repairs quite rapidly. 10/10, would recommend! ... Read more

Great building, Great location. But the ONLY reasonable access is the 100 year old freight elevator that breaks down 2 - 3 times per month. And fixing/preparing it does not seem to be a priority for staff or management. ... Read more

Horrible company. They will increase your rent immediately after you move in. The prices are not real. We spent weeks moving tons of stuff into a new unit, and instantly received a 30% increase notice after 1 month of being there! They have no respect for the customer ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Northwest Self Storage - 215 SE Morrison Street include the following amenities: Indoor, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Credit Cards Accepted, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 20 to 400 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Northwest Self Storage - 215 SE Morrison Street start from $44 and can go up to $848 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
