I was homeless for a year during that time these people were like vultures picking my bones clean. They stole from what little i had. Anything worth anything is gone. I have health issues that effect my memory and it was about a month after removing my things from there that i realized that things were missing. They've got u over a barrel cuz they state they aren't responsible for your belongings. At one point i was charged$300 for my son leaving a bag of ma il out and not throwing it in the dumpster. I can see $100 even $150 but $300 is RIDICULOUS! I had no choice but to pay what they were asking...it was all i had. They put a pad look on my unit until it was paid off. Even when i explained my situation they could care less. I wouldn't recommend this facility to my enemies if i had any. Also your belongings get exposed to the elements. There are huge spaces at the top of the unit where from the inside u can see the outside plain as day. Im sooo glad i didn't keep my televisions there. Im sure they one wouldn't work or two wouldn't be there when i went back for them. These people are taking advantage of others during a stressful time in someone's life whether it be moving or being homeless. I will never be able to replace what they stole from me and when i called and told them about it i never got an I'm sorry we'll look into it...pretty much they were silent on the other end. DON'T STORE YOUR BELONGINGS HERE unless you don't care to get most of it back. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Mount Airy Self Storage - 102 Center Street include the following amenities: 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Gate, Unstaffed Location and Parking. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
