Mega Rental Projects Turned Reality: 10 of the Largest Developments Completed in 2015 Nationwide

Without doubt, 2015 was yet another busy year in terms of construction and many apartment developers had the chance to see their wildest dreams finally materialize. But how wild were these dreams exactly? Obviously, we got some immense numbers: about a quarter of a million apartments for rent came online in north of 1,200 brand new buildings across the nation, according to data from Yardi Matrix, which covers 112 US metropolitan areas. Fear not, we’ve assembled a list for you to feast your eyes on, with just ten of the largest rental developments completed nationwide in 2015.
California going for the gold
There’s a lot to discuss about last year’s largest projects, but we simply can’t let this one pass. Ladies and gentlemen, California is officially incredible! No less than four properties on our brief little list were built in Orange County and two of them, including the largest, in Irvine, CA. Located in the middle of Orange County, just minutes from the ocean and a short drive from the mountains and desert, the city is home to dozens of corporate headquarters and Fortune 500 companies. In a word, Irvine seems to be the city to live, work and play in; and apparently developers couldn’t agree more as they are literally shoveling their money into the place.
Interestingly enough—apart from two NYC projects and Miami’s Shorecrest Club project, perhaps—the rest of the locations aren’t the names you’d have expected either. Or would you have bet on Irving, TX, Alexandria, VA or Huntington Beach, CA to be home to some of 2015’s largest rental developments? Check out our breakdown below for more details:
