Good Building w/ some issues
We have liced here since the buildinf firsr opened. We loce the day to day ataff and they have become like family. The building is definitely showinf its age with every thing started to fall apart. we are constantly having to call maintenance. Maintenance is fantastic but the building needs help. We finally got new outside furniture after years of complaining and getting splinters but only have seem to have made it and half the Courtyard is without any place sit instead of keeping what we had until the furniture arrived. The management company is constantly nickel and diming the tenents. Many folks have lived here since it opened so there is a great community here so it has both the good & the bad! Right now due to the new property managers it is much more dog friendly than kid friendly so rhe roof top smells like pee or poop and is barely usable.

I’m consistently charged the wrong amounts. And it’s NOT the on-site staff, because it’s happened with different cycles of employee.
A gem near the waterfront
This quiet northern end of Greenpoint is an amazingly livable neighborhood and 1133 is a wonderful community unto itself there. While taller buildings along the waterfront have limited what were once unobstructed panoramic views of Manhattan from the roof, the usable waterfront promenade/park space just across the street is a worthy tradeoff and it still feels like a magical place up there. The staff is amazing and I can't imagine getting the same level of friendliness and personal attention in one of the newer tower buildings. The size of the building is just right, which allows for a good level of amenities (yeah, a basketball court or bowling alley or pool would be fun but not realistic at this size) but doesn't feel impersonal. The apartments are well appointed with thoughtful layouts, especially the number of closets.
Great place to raise kids
I've been living here for 7 years and have been raising my daughter here. It's been great. The staff all know her by name. There are great restaurants and stores nearby. The grocery store downstairs is amazing. The staff are super friendly. And the building is kept in great condition. The only negative is the homeless shelter across the street. But I was aware of it before moving in. And if you mind your business, they tend to mind theirs. I've never had an issues in 7 years.
