The Hiawatha sits at the entrance to Portland's Arts District—one of the city's most creative and walkable neighborhoods. Step outside and you're across from Longfellow Square, where Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's statue watches over yellow picnic tables and live music on summer evenings. This is the heart of Portland's cultural scene, and The Hiawatha is right in the middle of it.
One Longfellow Square, named Maine's best live music venue, is directly across the street—intimate concerts, theater, and performances are literally at your doorstep. The State Theatre (2 minutes), Portland Museum of Art (2 minutes), and Congress Square Park (the "Heart of the Arts District") are all within steps. Walk three blocks and you're at Monument Square. Five blocks puts you in the Old Port.
For dining, the Arts District delivers. Restaurants abound from dining outside in Longfellow Square, up and down Congress Street, and the Old Port. First Friday Art Walk happens monthly—galleries open free to the public, street performers fill Congress Street. The Hiawatha sits in the center of all the amazing things Portland Maine has to offer.
