Location, Location, Location

Apartments are often small and expensive, but you can't beat being right next to downtown Oak Park. Living in a dog friendly building is amazing, there are so many dogs and other dog parents to make friends that it makes the rent increases feel worth it. Staff is fairly responsive and everyone they send out for maintenance is amazing. Appliances and interior vary by apartment; some things are very old and some are brand new. The locks on the doors are one of the most frustrating things. A lot if residents work at the two large hospitals near by - one is within walking distance. Its advised to use CTA and Metra because parking is extremely limited and cars often have to be moved from one street to the next at 11pm or 6am

Good place

I've lived here one year, and I can say the staff is top notch. Try and get a renovated unit, with the view that you want. Don't be shy reaching out in case of heating or gas smells. They will help you, and you need to be safe. Laundry machines in every building would help, having it in another part of the building increases chances of getting locked out. Lots of dogs here, so if you're a dog lover, it's great. Also, Oak Park is a very dog-oriented community, and it's easier to make friends if you have one. Friendly folks, lots of elders, but young families too.
