Chemical fumes in home

Strong chemical solvent fumes filled my home with no notice; the COO of the holding company wrote they will never notify neighbors or disclose products ... “accept it or move out.” On July 31, I returned to an overwhelming, heavy chemical odor throughout my apartment. The source was solvent-based glazing in the unit directly below that management was renovating. I received no advance notice. The fumes likely migrated through shared ventilation or gaps between units. I experienced eye irritation and a head-rush, left to ventilate for hours, and still breathed residual fumes overnight because the odor never fully cleared. The next morning I asked management for the exact product (name/label/SDS) to understand what I was exposed to and what precautions were taken to keep fumes out of neighboring units. I was told they needed to ask corporate. The only corporate reply, sent by the Chief Operations Officer of the parent company (JAIRO, INC., doing business as "Property Management Associates"), stated: “We do not have any requirement to notify you of work going on in any apartment other than the one you rent. We will not now, or ever, do so. If that doesn’t work for you, feel free to provide your notice to vacate. This is the only email you will receive on this matter.” In plain terms you will be given no notice, no product disclosure, and if fumes enter your apartment, your options are to tolerate it or move out. My health and habitability were impacted, and the company’s written stance treats this outcome as acceptable because the work originated in another unit. In my view, this is a serious breach of basic tenant safety and may violate habitability and environmental-health standards. If management discloses the product used and adopts a notice/containment protocol to prevent chemical fumes from entering neighboring units, I’ll update this review
