Located in a quiet setting off the beaten path, the Ruckman Avenue neighborhood features red tile roofs, historic detailing, and proximity to San Francisco's iconic Golden Gate Bridge. Beginning in 1909, this amiable collection of two-story wood frame residences came together over a period of 24 years to house the Coast Artillery garrison. The duplexes, four-plexes, and one single-family home feature enclosed sun porches and verandas, as well generous outdoor spaces. A defining feature of the neighborhood is the Presidio Nursery, a vibrant volunteer hub where native seedlings and trees are grown for use in park restoration projects. Nearby hiking and biking trails provide easy access to Crissy Field, the bridge, and cultural and transportation options on the Presidio's Main Post.

Best of both worlds!

We love living in the Presidio! It's the best of both worlds of living in San Francisco but also the unique privelege of living in a National Park.

not sure

I have lived here along time: 15+ years. The location is super and I'm a native plant enthusiast so I enjoy working with NPS to maintain native plantings.

The best place I've ever lived

I am in my first year of living in the Presidio, and after 20 years in the City on the beach side, I honestly can't imagine living anywhere else. If you want the experience of living in an old community, knowing your neighbors, and having the privilege of living in a national forest, it can't be found anywhere else.
