I've lived at the Presidio Landmark on or off for over 12 years, and at first it was amazing, with great neighbor events and truly luxurious living. Then we lost our property manager to private equity, a company called Brookfield, and things started going downhill fast. We lost our full-time door staff, and maintenance went downhill. We lost our beautiful palm trees out front. They put in lighting that no longer fits the aesthetic of the place and doesn't match. Upkeep just generally went downhill. The units themselves have always been beautifully done, but they started cheaping out on those too, with fake wood floors and the cheapest appliances they could buy. Also, we would have fire alarms all the time. I think the Presidio Trust got sick of hearing about it and kicked Brookfield out. Now things get fixed immediately, and I can definitely feel a change in how things are being done. Someone should do a case study about how things can be run when private equity isn't involved. I also love that the Presidio Trust is a certified California green business and really embodies that in their operations. Highly recommend.
