Living in the Presidio can be wonderful. The staff are great as well as the maintenance people. Obviously, the grounds are lovely and it's in close proximity to great parts of the City. The biggest downsides are the noise and the lack of transparency on rent increases. Once you have lived here awhile, your lease is year to year with no guarantee of what the yearly increase will be. This makes it hard to plan on future expenses. Regarding the noise, the thoroughfares in the Presidio are very busy. People drive way too fast and they honk. I have seen bikers and pedestrians almost get hit at the major intersections. Also, the landscaping crews often start between 6:30 and 7 in the morning. So, there are some good things about living here and some some not so good things.

For instance, it's ideally positioned near the dining spots on the Main Post and in the Letterman District, yet nature awaits an easy hike away at the revitalized El Poln Spring. Chestnut Street and Union Street are a short stroll outside the Lombard Gate, and Pacific Heights is a vigorous uphill walk or short drive through the Presidio Gate. The PresidiGo Shuttle stops near here on its way to and from downtown, as does MUNI.
