Fantasy vs Reality

Disappointed and disgruntled… This place with its thin walls, loud floors, lack of genuine assistance from staff, temperamental elevator, lack of communication and inability to make changes without consulting a manager who does nothing, is unfortunate. For what you pay, the value of the building is low budget. We have complained about the loud noises upstairs all times of the night due to thin flooring. Sure there’s a pool and a gym and in-unit w/d dishwasher. But if sleep and peace can’t be enjoyed after multiple complaints, look at the staff who try to fill spaces instead of taking care of who is already here. They are disconnected from reality and don’t even have a staff person at the desk to greet people during the day. Parking is tight and the staff simply randomly chooses to lease parking spaces without looking at the size of the vehicles already parked there. Also, try calling holland residential, the parent company, and you will experience a call that goes nowhere. I’ve lived here 9 months and let me tell ya, the newness of it does not equal quality. Do not be deceived. There is much better quality and customer service elsewhere. (I moved here from east coast last summer.).

Staff and maintenance issues

There have been several issues that we have encountered since moving into our apartment. 1. We have noticed a concerning lack of responsiveness from the staff. Messages have gone unanswered, making it challenging for us to address issues promptly. 2. We have not seen a property manager since moving in. A visible management presence is crucial for ensuring residents have a point of contact for any issues. 3. Maintenance encounters have been less than satisfactory. Maintenance arrived without uniforms or name tags, leaving us uncertain about their identity. Additionally, we were informed that certain issues would need repaired by the construction vendors, and the wait time is months. Furthermore, follow-up visits for repairing issues were not done. 4. Upon moving in, we were dismayed to find our apartment in a less than satisfactory condition. The cleanliness was non-existent, and the construction work was severely lacking. We observed paint and caulk droppings, cracked walls and door frames, peeling paint, and noticeable bumps in the flooring. Additionally, our door bell does not work, and we have experienced cabinets and doors falling off, with noticeable scratches on cabinets, doors, the mirror, baseboards, and flooring. Our apartment does not meet the standards of "luxury living" that we are paying for. 5. The overall living environment has been impacted by excessive noise from neighboring residents. Loud music, slamming doors, and disruptive stomping above us have become a recurring issue. Additionally, we have experienced both marijuana and cigarette smoke within the building. 6. The gym is overall enjoyable, but there is a significant concern with the weight room area. The builders opted for the smallest overhead lights, resulting in an inadequately lit space that poses a safety concern. They need to install additional lighting to address this issue and ensure a safer environment for all gym users. We do love the amenities and location.

New Apartment

I just moved into the Ruby at the Society and have enjoyed my experience so far. The location is in Mission Valley and very accessible to the freeways, so you are central to most places in San Diego. It is close by common places like grocery stores, shopping centers and more. The apartment is a new build, so it is very clean and nice. The staff are friendly. The walls are pretty thin, so the noise from neighbors can be bothersome at times but overall its fine. The ammentities are great!
