Be very careful applying here. I applied for a standard apartment unit and paid $440 in application and administrative fees. Two weeks AFTER they took my money, Tylah finally disclosed that the unit they assigned me was actually a structurally modified accessibility unit. This layout fundamentally differs from the standard layout I was shown online, impacting material elements such as handle bars in both bathrooms, no cabinetry in the bathrooms, a small bathroom sink, no cabinets under the kitchen sink, and no mounted microwave. When I asked for a refund of my fees due to this bait-and-switch, Andrew assistant manager, refused. He claimed that under the Fair Housing Act, they are legally barred from disclosing to applicants whether a unit is an accessibility unit before they apply. This is completely false—the FHA protects applicant privacy regarding medical history, it does not hide the physical architectural layout of a building from a consumer. Arlington Properties is using a blatant misrepresentation of federal housing law as an excuse to wrongfully withhold consumer funds. I have had to file a dispute with my financial institution, submit a consumer complaint to the State Attorney General’s Office, and preparing a Statement of Claim for Jefferson County Small Claims Court just to get my money back. If you apply here, make sure they are actually giving you the layout you want for before handing over your money.
