I was able to meet a couple of staff members with the new management company, Habitat America. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to help. I anticipate a pleasant time in my apartment home.

    Living in Waldorf, MD

If you’re a renter considering making Waldorf, MD, your new home, you’re not alone. This quaint, small town has experienced dramatic growth, increasing its population 16 fold since the 1980s. In fact, it’s become the largest commercial and residential area in southern Maryland, as well as a major suburb of Washington, D.C. Although Waldorf is predominantly a bedroom community for many residents who commute to work in the Washington metropolitan area, it also has its individual appeal. For instance, renters with young children appreciate the above-average public school district and the quiet and safe living environment it provides, as well as the easy access to family-friendly activities, such as sports facilities and an abundance of green spaces. Despite the 45-minute commute to Washington, D.C., Waldorf remains true to its rural roots. As such, farmers’ markets, pumpkin patches and opportunities to pick your own fruit abound. Renters moving to Waldorf will find that the cost of living in this peaceful suburb is slightly higher than the state and national average. That said, it remains very affordable compared to nearby Washington, D.C.

    Renting in Waldorf, MD

Renters constitute a minority in Waldorf, where most residents own their homes. Waldorf offers renters a dense, suburban environment punctuated by plenty of green spaces and remnants of farmland. Here, you’ll easily find a rental property that matches your tastes, needs and budget — whether you’re looking for a rental home in a residential neighborhood or planned community or an apartment for rent in a mid- to low-rise community. You’ll also find plenty of townhouses and rental apartment developments in more densely populated areas. What’s more, the rental fees in Waldorf are slightly lower than the average rent in the rest of the Washington-Arlington-Alexandria metropolitan area. However, renting an apartment in Waldorf can still cause some sticker shock for renters used to more affordable locations, as rents in Walford are significantly higher than the national average and the average for the rest of Maryland. Additionally, according to rental laws in Maryland, landlords may not charge renters more than the equivalent of two months’ rent for a security deposit.
