Silver Spring is a growing city and is known as an excellent place to live, especially for those with kids. The city was actually even named as one of the 10 safest places to live in the state of Maryland.
The only real cons of Silver Spring are the traffic issues on the morning and evening commute to/from DC, and the relatively high cost of living. Things to do in Silver Spring
A full night out in Silver Spring starts with dinner, and although there are plenty of chain restaurants here don’t be fooled, because there are plenty of local gems tucked away here, too.
For some ethnic cuisine, Addis Ababa serves the city’s best Ethiopian food in the city, or for some classic Italian Favorites, Silver Spring residents can head over to Olazzo, serving rustic Italian dishes The Classics restaurant is also a popular spot in town, and how could it not be, since the restaurant's signature dish is steak!
After dinner, the Quarry House Tavern is the place to go. Some consider it a bar, but in fact it serves good food, offers a great atmosphere, coupled with a long beer list.
Silver Spring has several annual events, including AFI Docs in June, where the American Film Institute shows and honors independent documentaries. The city also hosts the Blues Festival every May, the Jazz Festival every September, and a Thanksgiving festival every November.
