Dirty units, huge rent increases every 6 months and abysmal access. This company is run like an extortion racket. They sign you up at a normal rate for a unit and immediately raise the rent by about $70 every 6 months. The gates hardly ever work and nothing is well maintained. I feel bad for anyone who has to work for a company like this but stay away from Public Storage. ... Read more

Hello Everyone, Today was the most unprofessional and scary experience for my sister and I. We filed a police report right here on property of this storage company. We was moving my sisters personal property out of her rented unit early and before the end of the month. A short black male with loc’s walked up to us and stating “No using the dumpster here”. He never asked if we needed help he simply started yelling that he is the manager and that he also lives on the property. We never intended to use the storage dumpster therefore, his comments and unwanted behavior was unwarranted. Furthermore, we asked him to please calm down and proceeded to explain just that. However, he refused to allow a response. Furthermore, while his 2 kids walked their dog he threatened us to go in building and get a weapon if we didn’t leave the property before he comes back out. About 3 minutes passed and he returns. He opened the gate and we noticed what seemed to be a large object sticking out of his pants pocket. Right away he continued to yell and decided to walk towards my sister and began yelling: “ get out of here now” as if he wanted to harm her. Police was called on the spot. My sister rented unit is fully paid til date. We only wanted to clear the unit out early therefore, no wrong doing was committed or illegal acts here on our end. A professional should never act in this manner that police had to be called and especially on a paying customer. There was a police report made and further legal actions on this matter will be continued. I pray this never happens to anyone in the future. ... Read more

Very un-accommodating. Girl who works at the front desk acts like she hates her job. Very dismissive, really doesn’t care what you’re saying, and everything is “I’ll ask the manager.” Horrible customer service skills every time I speak with her. There is also never anyone at the front desk, someone is there usually 1 day a week. Would not recommend if you have to get into your storage often. ... Read more

Fantastic experience. I had an issue with the gate and I called in and no one would answer because the location that I was at was a remote location. So I called customer service and a manager by the name of Kenyatta told me to give me a call back within 10 minutes with a solution and he called me back in literally 8 minutes and help me get in the facility so I could get my stuff and still make my meeting. Great experience ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Public Storage - 8401 Lansdowne Avenue include the following amenities: Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 100 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 8401 Lansdowne Avenue start from $70 and can go up to $193 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
