I would not recommend this storage facility, especially if you are paying extra for “climate controlled” units. My experience was a nightmare from start to finish with the final issue that they had a roof leak that caused water to enter my unit that caused damage to and molded countless items and thousands of dollars of furniture. When I asked her why she didn’t let me know when it happened (she told me they knew the roof was leaking and called someone to fix it a couple of times) instead of letting all of my items ruin, her response was only “that’s why YOU have insurance” Clearly, their customer service was equally as disappointing — unhelpful and dismissive. When you’re trusting a company to store your personal items (that you pay $150/month for), the least they can do is provide the service they advertise and communicate professionally. Unfortunately, this place failed on many counts. I have given them an opportunity to talk this over with me but 3 weeks later, I have received no response. If you’re considering renting here, save yourself the stress and look elsewhere. This facility is not worth the money, and certainly not worth the headache. (I would give no stars but, unfortunately, that’s isn’t an option) ... Read more

Horrible!!! They have been broken into over 5 times just in the past 6 months!! I have had a trailer stolen and my unit broken into. Then they put their lock on it after the break in but no one was in the office or would answer the phone 3 separate times in a row when we went up there to get their lock off the unit so we could have access to our belongings, we we’re going to move out to a different storage provider but had a death in the family and had to go to Texas and we’re out of town for three weeks. I sent a message to the lady who had told us pur unit was broken into stating I had a death in the family and I would take care of it as soon as I got back but Since no one was at the office and no one returned my calls the unit was passed due by time we were coming back to town the day I got home I received a message in reply to my message stating I was out of town due to a death in my family saying we were behind rent is due on the first and we have been locked out ! Even tho we had already been locked out for 3 weeks that were already paid for! And had been stolen from twice! The next day I Received a message stating that our unit was up for auction and was scheduled to be sold later that same day! Aren’t they supposed to give you more notice than a couple hours before they auction it off!! The person who worked in the office quit after all the break-ins and they didn’t offer any kind of discount or leeway on monthly rent due to the thefts! I even had to pay 2 extra fees one late fee and an auction fee that is half the cost of monthly rent!! Even though we didn’t have access to the unit or our belongings for almost 3 weeks that we had already paid for. I just now was able to pay all the fees and catch up because no one was available to be in the office to take the money and get their lock off and now another month is due ! And Now the lights outside don’t come on at night anymore and night time is the only time I have available to move my stuff ! I would not recommend.. they don’t care about your stuff or customer satisfaction or anything! They get an insurance payout every time they get broken into but don’t even offer a discount for customers who have been robbed! It’s not worth saving the extra 15-20 bucks a month to store here. Especially if you have actual valuables, you will probably get robbed, if you care about your stuff spend the extra money and go to any other place!! ... Read more

American storage was fast and convenient considering I was working with real short notice. We were able to get our unit fast and quick. Units are clean and although the indoor unit was not climate controlled it worked well with our belongings. Nice and clean and the 24 hour service is very convenient. They also were very understanding with my payments being a day or two as long as I communicated and communicated receipts through email and texts. Thankyou american storage and staff ... Read more

Very hateful and unprofessional staff. Refused to give a corporate number or allow us to speak to anyone above her. We have two big units there that we will now be moving because of one particular individual. The company clearly doesn't care about their customers. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at American Storage-Rentals - 3908 Minnesota include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Gate, Enclosed and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
