I was renting with them for about 6 months, never had any issues. Prices were really reasonable, the units are clean, and the staff are extremely helpful and understanding. Would definitely recommend to others and I will be renting with them again when I need the storage space. ... Read more

Avoid at all costs. Nice facility, BUT disingenuous / deceptive practices in advertising and pricing. Rent was advertised at a price point with first month free / $1. In just two months, the advertised monthy rate was raised by over 35%! I was told by someone after renting the unit that this was a standard practice for this business, but I thought - surely not. I expected the rate to hold for at least 6 months or a year before going up. In other words, count on your rent being increased substantially within a few months - plan on pying more than you initially agree to in the contract. They wait long enough for you to get your posessions moved in and then raise the rent once it's a pain to move everything somewhere else. To be clear - the same size unit is still being advertised on the web page at the same (lower) price and there is no indication on the web page or in the contract I signed that it is a temporary rate that it will be raised within a couple months of renting. I plan to make arrangements to move my posessions somewhere else and to file consumer complaints through the NC DoJ office and the Better Business Bureau. In hindsight, I should have read the negative reviews on here before renting - clearly this deceptive practice is standard operating procedure for this company. added 4/10/2025: Re: the owner's message - clearly there is a pattern to advertise one price and within 2-3 months to raise the price (apparent not only from my experience, but also from some of the other recent reviews). That's not an "industry standard", that's deceptive practice. I have rented a number of storage units before. Never before have I moved in at one price and had the rent increased right away. Nor have I ever been charged more than the currently advertised rental rate. ... Read more

Basic/decent storage unit; staff is friendly however I am so ready to move my belongings from this place when I signed up for the storage I asked to not be put on autopay. I wanted to have the freedom to pay my storage unit at any time in the month that best fit me I don’t mind the late fee. The past two months I have been on autopay even though I asked again to please remove it. The worst thing about it is since they have me on autopay they will attempt the payment every single day and still assess the late fee. Pay attention with this company they will definitely increase your cost as well. I only had my items stored here for 3 months before they went up . Once they went up on the storage unit all of a sudden I am on autopay I am pissed because I have now asked twice to not be on autopay and I am still on it. I have now blocked them from my bank and will be making my payments in person since they will not remove the autopay ... Read more

Polite and friendly staff. However, be aware that there's an additional insurance fee added to your monthly rate unless you show proof of homeowners insurance. This was an unexpected charge. I rented a 10x10 unit and I was able to get the first month rental for $1.00. However, I paid for a unit and due to a deep puddle in front of the unit, I wasn't able to move my stuff in on that day. Well, I didn't have my rubber boots. The next day a smaller puddle was still present. The staff offered to move me to a smaller storage unit because there weren't any 10 x 10 units available. The staff drew up the paperwork for the smaller unit which I accepted. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at CubeSmart Self Storage - 2020 B Stokes Road include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Enclosed, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
