I had no problems with the initial procedures at the Federal facility on Hwy 54 in Graham or Haw River. In fact the signup was incredibly fast and easy. I particularly liked that it was open 24 hours a day and I did do most of my storing late into the night and early mornings which allowed me to use my unit and building as my lay down area and organize on my own terms as I never once had anyone else around when I was there. The only issue I had was being unable to reach any staff members when I was vacating the unit. I only was able to contact staff was when they were contacting me to notify me of a late fee that was due. At that point I was able to speak to someone whereby I referenced my email message I had sent at the time I vacated showing pictures in the empty unit from the day I left. The staff immediately found my email and the photos and put the issues to rest and made a note of the timeline and terminated our rental contract. All in all I had great access at a great rate and I would definitely do business with Federal storage in the future. ... Read more

Terrible experience! We have had our unit for 18 months. They raised the rent by $30. during that time and we just got a notice that they are raising it another $30. Outrageous! We have a so-called climate controlled unit. Every time I have been in there in the summer it has been hot. In November, I took out some of my Christmas decor and it has yellowed after being in their unit for one year! I have had some of my items for years in other storage units and everything has been fine until this place. In my experience, this yellowing happens quickly when there is too much heat in the storage area. This is the whole reason I rented a climate controlled unit and not used my garage! Also, let me tell you about BUGS! I have seen cockroach infestations twice since we’ve been there. In fact, a whole cornucopia of bug corpses line the hallway. And giant spider webs hanging from the ceiling (I am not kidding)! They think they have you and can do what they want because it’s a hassle to move all of your belongings. Wrong! We will be taking our business elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place. There are much cheaper, well-kept storage options out there. ... Read more

I scheduled a late payment and was not informed I'd be charges a late fee on top of a lien fee. So I was charged an extra $100 without being informed by customer service. The air in my unit has not been on in over a week! Horrible customer service!! Expect to wait at least 20 to 30 minutes for someone to answer the phone! ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at 10 Federal Self Storage - 2390 NC-54 include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Unstaffed Location, Kiosk Available, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, First Floor Access, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 400 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by 10 Federal Self Storage - 2390 NC-54 start from $34 and can go up to $274 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
