I have recently relocated back to Fuquay Varina as my partner and I are building a house. While the house is being completed I needed a storage unit for my belongings. My partner referred me to this storage facility (6917 NC-55, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526) since it was conveniently located to where we are staying for the interim until the project build is done. My partner also has a storage unit at this facility and from the beginning we have had multiple instances where the elevators are out of service. There have been no warning no note and hardly ever anyone in the office located in the property to call about this. We both have second floor units and when the elevators constantly go down how are we supposed to access our belongings....belongings we are paying this facility to store and yet have no access to. The most recent incident happened today 10/4/25. I arrived at the facility to access my unit as I needed to get belongings in my unit. The elevators were not working, there was no note on the elevator, no communication sent via my message center on my app. I called the office and Jennifer Abass (not sure if the spelling of her last name) to inquire about the elevators. Jennifer informed me that she was just filling in today and had no idea about the elevators other than a note that was left for her stating they were down and someone should be out sometime today to look at them. I asked how people who have units were notified of this and she answered that they don't do that. I asked how people like me who need access to their belongings and only have certain times they can come to the facility are supposed to access them. She again answered that she didn't know and was just filling in. I then started to ask if the property manager could call me and Jennifer interrupted me to continue talking. I respectfully let her finish and requested again the property manager call me. My partner and I came back later to see if the elevators had been fixed because we needed access to our unit. The elevators were still out with multiple other people at the facility needing access to their units as well. My partner tried to call the office again to inquire about where the access was to the stairs and no one answered in the office. A call to the Public Storage customer service yielded no more further help either. When we tried to go into the office when no one answered there was no one there. As a storage company with second units, having a working elevator should be priority, however this facility consistently fails to maintain a working elevator. The individuals they chose to hire for this particular facility lack the customer service skills to provide any type of service to the public. I work in customer service and would never speak to a customer the way I was spoken today. I have had other storage units with other companies and never had the problems I have with Public Storage. Perhaps corporate should partner with this facility to review and audit their processes as well as customer service training to ensure they are able to provide the necessary services the company advertises. ... If I could leave zero stars I would. Elevators are constantly going out, who ever was supposedly on site today was no where to be found. Called customer service who just wanted to keep connecting me to the phone number where that representative on site was not answering. Finally got a hold of a customer service manager who couldn't do anything to help gain access. She left a message for another manager to reach out in 48 business hours....This is one of serial visists I have made where the elevators have been out of service...take your business elsewhere if you need to have reliable access to your belongs that you are paying to store.... ... I have been renting a 15x20 unit here for almost a year. My unit is supposed to be climate controlled but the humidity is so terrible that I can't spend more than ten minutes in my unit without sweating and needing a break outside. The temperature has never felt appropriate but has been particularly bad this year. On Wednesday I found mold growing on some of my things. Tried to visit the office but found it locked. I called the number but was only prompted to leave a message. I received a call back from the property manager where she said she was calling someone about it. I went back today to clean the affected items. The building was still just as humid and muggy. Still a locked office door. Still no answer when I called the number. I left another message but as of writing this, have not received a call back. I did, however, receive notice that my rent is increasing 33% next month which is OUTRAGEOUS considering I'm not getting the climate controlled unit that I am paying for. I'm only giving it 2 stars as opposed to 1 star because there are no rodents or leaking water in my unit, which is what prompted me to leave my previous storage company. EDIT: Aug 29. Today, I spent hours sorting through my belongings and cleaning mold off of furniture, boxes, books, picture frames, etc., whilst sweating and choking on the humidity because the temperature/atmosphere in my units building has not changed. I finally found a human in the office and he said he was the property manager. Apparently they have several and are not tied to any particular location? He seemed completely unbothered by my problem or the impact of mold, had no information on if/when the AC would be fixed, offered no apologies, no discounts, and his only solution was to see if he could move me into the main building but the thought of giving them my continued business seems absurd. He didn't ask for my name, my unit number, or the name of the previous property manager I spoke to (so zero accountability) and said that if I felt that my items were damaged, that I would have to bring it up with the insurance company. My experience with their "customer service" has been awful and I don't understand all of the positive reviews. I will be moving out and would strongly advise that you not waste your time, money, or risk damage to your property with ANY Public Storage facility. Changing my review from 2 stars to 1. I'd rather deal with mice than mold. Update: Sept.4th. Theresa has reached out to me to address all of the issues, and informed me that the AC was fixed in my unit's building. I had a positive exchange with her, and was offered an extension on my current rate (before increase). I appreciate that she made an effort to reconcile the issues and all of my concerns were met with reasonable and appropriate solutions. Her customer service skills far exceed those of the guy I spoke with last. For the moment, I will continue using my space, hopefully with no further AC issues. Will update again as neccesary! ... I was so pleased to encounter such professionalism at my storage facility. Tiana was very nice. I needed to downsize my storage unit and I was told if I reserved the unit I wanted online I would be eligible for the online price.. But of course that didn't happen. Which was a great disappointment as I budgeted for the internet price. Outside of that I would definitely recommend this location it is always clean and safe. ... Read more

THANK YOU, KATHRINE!!!!!! We booked our unit online, and we're very pleased with how easy the process was. We showed up with our first load to discover the cleanest storage facility I've ever seen. This put me at ease knowing my belongings are taken care of. In regards to security, amazing. It's so secure that I had a hard time getting out the first visit. The phone call from Kathrine making sure that all of our questions were answered was an excellent added touch. So, again, thank you. We look forward to using your services. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Public Storage - 6917 South NC-55 Hwy include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 6917 South NC-55 Hwy start from $32 and can go up to $225 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
